    Hi all,

I run the UK forum for Nissan LEAF enthusiasts and owners.

I used to own a 2002 Prius and it served me well for three years until I had to change vehicle to a Corolla Verso.

I really loved the PRIUS and I missed the silent starts stops and the regen and going back to an ICE only car seemed like a step back even though the vehicle was newer than my old Prius.

Now that the Lease on the Corolla is running out I wanted another car and I wanted it to either be a PHEV or a full EV.

As the much awaited Plug-in Prius still isn't available to buy I had to start looking elswhere and the Nissan LEAF caught my imagination and I decided to buy it.

    I'm due for a Q2 delivery possibly April 2011.

What am I doing on PriusChat then you may ask,

Well to tell you the truth, I wanted you to know that this forum was the inspiration for me to start the LEAF one as I saw such a vibrant community here and wanted something like that for the UK LEAF owners but there wasn't anything available so I started LeafTalk.

I'll try to pop in once in a while to keep up to date with the Prius scene and to find out more about the forthcoming Prius PHEV.

If you would like to join us over at LeafTalk you are more than welcome to pop in and register at any time. :)

Oy, welcome mate! Interesting choice, the Leaf. Having read quite a bit on the Leaf, and reading DaveinOlyWA's thoughts on having purchased one, it is a car I might consider for next car go around! Please pop in often and let us know how the Leaf works for someone across the pond. I would enjoy your thoughts!!

Lol, LeafTalk. PriusChat. What's next, VoltBabble? They say imitation is the greatest form of flattery.

Nice... i always thought Leaf would do well in Europe and UK especially (due to many people living in houses)

It does make it easier to install a charger outside if you live in a house not an apartment.

I don't what your average round trip commute might be in the US but ours in the UK usually fall within the Leaf's range. That may be a factor too.

I'll look forward to hearing how the Leaf works for you. I just can't get my head around the whole charger installation expense and process, especially for the available travel range. Keep up updated.

twittel, you'd get your head round it pretty quick if you were paying over $8 a gallon for petrol ;)

Yup, I can clearly relate to that! That alone is enough motivation to play the Leaf. Someday, we'll have rapid recharge stations like today's gas stations. Just won't be in my lifetime.

Maybe not, but personally i see EV's panning out a different way. once they have 300+ mile range as standard (so, the Model S!) people will plug in at home (and not even every night), and occasionally at a motorway service station, and that will be it. we will look back and laugh at this "charging infrastructure" nonsense. :)

Their forum has some interesting threads, and it's good to start getting reports "from the wild". Worth a read if you want to know more about the leaf.

    +1!
It all depends on your driving patterns.
There are many people for which a 200 mile range will never require them to plug in away from home. And a number of people for which that magic range is as low as 100 or 60 miles.

A plug-in or full EV intrigues me because our arena has 2 charging stations that are free. We are season ticket holders for the hockey team that plays there so for 28 weekends I could get a free charge. 3 hours should net well over a half a tank. :)
