Anyone know the original tire tread depth on the standard Yokohama Avid's that come with the car. none of the spec sheets at Yokohama or Tire Rack websites shows it
I'm guessing 10/32nds (OEM S33D) Interesting how TR and Yokohama don't have the thread depth listed, but the S33B (diff thread pattern though) has 10/32nd, but that's usually the standard thread depth on new tires.
I also aware that recently tires besides OEM also have reduced tread depth to 10/32". Back in the 80', tread depth are anywhere from 13/32" to 11/32".
Look up the specifications of your tires here Tire Rack - Your performance experts for tires and wheels They will most likely be 10/32 as previously stated.
Anyone that has actually measured the original tread depth on the Yokohama Avid S33 D? I am interested in finding out as well. I called a couple of stores in town and they said they are at 10/32 but when I went to check they had looked at an Yokohama Avid tire different from the S33 D and they don't have the S33 D in stock.
Just called Yokohama USA Consumer Affairs at the number listed here: Yokohama Tire and the representative told me the original tread depth is actually 11/32. The tires on my Prius have ~ 21,000 almost exclusively highway miles and the tread depth reading is 6.5/32. Which translates to 4,666 miles for every 1/32 which means one should see about 42,000 miles out of the tires if driven on highway exclusively.
I did measure the tread depth of the original new Yokohama Avid S33D tires and it was 10/32". I always measure the tread depth of the tires and the PH of the coolant on my new cars at purchase to establish a baseline.
