Traded in my 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad cab truck, which was averaging about 16 mpg. The dealership found exactly what I wanted, 2011 Prius II in blizzard pearl with bisque interior. I've had this prius for 3 days and I love it. Pictures soon to come. Harr Toyota in Worcestor Ma. is giving away $1000 in gas vouchers until the end of the month. My salesman was great and gave me a fair deal. I negotiated new car price and trade in value over e-mail and phone without ever stepping into the dealership, until the day off purchase. Highly recommended. I get a hundred bucks for each referral that leads to a purchase. I'll split that with anyone who is ready to buy. I'll give you my name and my salesman's name. thanks.
It has not ceased to amaze me when folks trade in huge pickup trucks for the Prius and they just love it. Apparently piece of mind and mpg is a bigger priority than interior room or hauling? Maybe you have another truck stashed away like me. Did I mention I love my prius too?
Welcome and congratulations. That was quite a big step from the quad cab pickup to the Prius. You will really enjoy the fuel savings along with the lower emissions.
Wow, a 1500 quad cab for a Prius. The fuel savings alone should let you buy a new house and still have money left-over for a shopping spree. Congrats on your new Prius and welcome to PriusChat. Remember to read your owner's manual, check out issues in the forums and enjoy those MPGs, technology and low-emissions. If Japan doesn't get her Prius plants operating soon, in a few months, your new Prius may be worth more than you paid for it!
I'm expecting 1600 - 1800 in gas savings a year, if my calculations are correct. I loved the truck during the New England winters, but I didn't really need a truck for anything else anymore. Too much gas. Too hard to park that gas guzzling monster. Friends and family that have taken a ride in the vehicle for the first time have been surprised and impressed with the MPG, pearl color, interior space, and features of the trim level II. I will be buying snow tires, when the flakes start to fall.
Congratulations, I know this was a major change. I too am on that journey and will downsize next month from my Tundra to a Prius. Looking forward to the change and better gas mileage. Yea I will miss the truck but don't think I will look back long.
Aloha and Welcome to PC. Glad to hear that you are enjoying your new Prius. Now that you're without a truck you don't have to worry about helping people move or other wanting to borrow it for errands and odd jobs. Check your tire pressures and read over your owners manual.
I traded in my Dodge Caravan 1998 for a new Prius. Got very little for the Dodge but got a very good deal on the Prius III , ($21488) couple of weeks back. Suspect those deals may not go on due to the Japan parts crisis. Very happy with my black Prius, love the blue tooth. Didnt want to pay for the navigation package ~27K.
I use Blizzack WS-70s on my 2010. I have been very satisified with them with all the snow we got this season here in New Hampshire. They feel very stable on a couple of inches or snow or slush when crossing tire tracks; they have very good traction and so far they are wearing very well. My last set of WS-60s lasted 4 seasons on my 2004 Prius and still had decent tread when I gave them to a co-worker for her 2007 Prius as they wouldn't fit my new 2010.
Congrats on a great car and great deal. Welcome to PriusChat. did your $21,488 include trade-in? Black is a great color, but Barcelona Red rocks!
I had Blizzacks on my Pontiac Torrent the last few years, they were great, but I'm thinking of getting studded tires for the Prius next winter.... anyone with thoughts on which is better in snow, Blizzacks or Studs?
