SO!... My usual lead footer wife got 59 mpg with her 2007 Prius on a 25 mile trip! :cheer2::hail: I was blown away and very proud! Now I have to out do her with my 2010 of course!!!
It must be down hill for the last 5 min. to your home? She did 100 mpg for that last 5min. stint. Very good! Hal
@ Rest & Hal W, The last part of her trip home is actually mostly straight with hills up and down. She called me when she got off the interstate and was already at 56 mpg at that point.
Awesome, earthwindwater. The numbers aren't misleading just because there is a good last bar, that is great! Side note, seems common to have last 5-minute bar or two as 100. For me, when coming home a. I get a hundred sometimes with P&G, and b. more electric use at the end...looks normal to me! From one direction there's a downhill, yes, but from other direction an uphill, but same 100 mpg bar, hmm...
Actually it doesn't have to be down hill and it is not misleading at all. It can be done on a flat service P&G and or a lot of running on battery. Also not every 5 minute bars equal to 5 actual minutes of driving. This winter I'm averaging 59.5 MPG so this can be done for 25 minutes and much more. Kudos to your wife earthwindwater
Yes I realize it can be done with the battery in Ev, but it would be hard to achieve 5 min @ 100 mpg with P&G as you loose it when you excel back up? I was not being sarcastic I was only trying to visualize the road! Hal
If you drive 1mile in EV mode then come to a stop with out turning off ready mode for five minutes the gauge will read 100mpg.
Congratulations! It always takes a first time. Now turn that in to a second, and third, etc. Sooooo, when are you going to beat her mpg accomplishment?
What about those guys who got 109 MPG with P&G over the course of 48 hours? My sweetie got 55.8 today. I was so proud. One of these days I will get to drive it long enough to approach that.
Corwyn: I am not sure how they achieve those #'ers. They must luck out with a hills Or draft a truck! I cant fathom it. I did manage 118 in a mile and 3/4 last Sun., but in the end of 35 miles I was down at 75 mpg. Thats my best and it was driving my HCH2 2006 model. My wife has our Prius! Hal
You can read all about it here: http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-prius-main-forum/10132-prius-marathon-run.html No truck drafting. Looped course, so no abnormal benefit from hills.
