Ok, I could not take driving on my Goodyear Integity's any longer so I broke down today and picked up a set of Michelen Primacy MXV4's. Discount Tire had a pretty good deal, I got them to match my best local price $487, they had a $70 Michelen rebate and gave me $40 for my old tires so I walked out the door for $365 bucks. I have been reading some conflicting information about tire pressure and breaking the new tires in. I ask DT to set them at 42F and 40R. I was hoping someone could share there experience with the break in period for this tire. Jim
42 and 40 is the norm. What is the max. cold setting printed on the sides 51 lbs.? Your safe to what ever that is. Hal
Nice that they gave you $40 for your old tires. They must have had some tread life remaining. Last time I had to get new tires they charged me 5 bucks a tire to take them.
I pulled the trigger and went with the Michelin Primacy MXV4 in 185 65/15. I've driven about 300 miles so far the the MPGs have decreased some (around 2 mpg).
I think the $70 comes direct from Michelin, doesn't matter where you buy them. At least it did when I got mine over a year ago. Typical mail it in and wait for the check. Yeah Max is 44 on the sidewall. I've run mine at 44 - 43 most often, with a pound or so lost between checks. Tire wear is even at 30K miles after having alignment corrected when the tires went on and rotating every 5K miles since. Had alignment checked and corrected again at the one year mark. Break in (in terms of mpg) seemed to settle after the first 2K miles for me. - D
