I live in Atlanta and am looking to buy my first Prius. There doesn't seem to be much negotiating room on 2011 models, so for now I'm focusing on Used. What do y'all think of this? 2008 Touring, leather seats, navigation $18988 mileage:30541 1 owner, personal lease thanks
Out here we have always offered KBB Private Party Fair value to dealers. And they seem to take it. There is always a room for 3k to 6k for negotiation. I would offer them 14k and see how they react, might settle between 15 to 16k. If not then I walk as there might be a better deal waiting. Don't be afraid to low-ball the dealers they want your business and will find a way to make it happen. Although all of the above can be relative to supply and demand in particular areas but no matter where you are I would never pay dealer list price. Don't pay extra for CPO. I take it just like a marketing term which says that they have inspected the car and find it in good condition any dealership can do that for 110 bucks. If in doubt ask the sales person about their CPO process. Negotiate it like a used car. Don't tell them that you are financing the car. First settle on the price saying that you will be paying cash and then later ask them to have a look at financing. Hide your cards it is a game of poker.
Also be aware, because of the rising gas BS, that car is now more desirable...... if you really want it, be somewhat agressive. Hope you get the ride you want!!!
Thanks everyone for your input ... apparently the car was sold 2 weeks ago, so I've decided to go with a 2011 II. Thanks to this forum, I went to AAA and got a price of $23,336 (at least on paper) but ... the dealer (Morrow Ga) got terrible reviews. I'll call them and see what happens. Also got a quote of $26650 for the IV? Anyone have any experience with using AAA member pricing? thanks juliann
