My Blizzard Pearl 2010 Prius IV is one week old today -- looks like a giant marshmallow.:cheer2: I love, love, love this car.
So far I have 350 miles on it and it drives and performs better than antcipated. My previous car was a 2007 Nissan Altima 3.5 SL with Bose stereo and all the upgrades. That car was fast -- two speeding tickets at 80 mph in 2 yrs.

The Prius has handled very well so far in winter, sleeting rain driving with all season tires on it -- no problems with brakes on slick or icy roads. You have to know how to drive in winter conditions like we do here in Lake County, Illinois (a northern suburb of Chicago). Anticipate road conditions in advance and leave a safe distance between car in front of you. So far I am averaging 43.5 mpg in winter, sleeting rain driving conditions :) (compared to 19 - 20 mpg in the Altima in winter driving :(), and I am very pleased. The JBL stereo is great (not missing the Bose too much), and I can directly plug in my I Pod Touch into the USB port. Love the navi, too. When I need power to accelerate onto the expressway, just press the Power button and instant torque. There is a learning curve in driving a hybrid car but one that can be quickly adapted. This car drives and handles much better than I had anticipated.

If your itouch has bluetooth try to connect through the JBL audio no wires it's great! Use mine all the time. instructions are in the owners manual.

Ahhh...the romantic milestones of a new Prius owner. Congrats and welcome to PriusChat. As a former yankee, I appreciate your common sense approach to driving on wintery roads. I read so many posts of drivers complaining about Prius traction on bad roads.:)

Hey, my sliver 2010 Prius IV is also a week old! There was a Blizzard Pearl sitting next to mine in the lot. The first time I saw it I didn’t think I would like that color but now seeing a few times I must admit it is pretty neat looking. That pearl clear coat gives it a softer look than any other metallic paint scheme.

I have 280 miles on mine. I'm a little north of you in Oshkosh, WI. So far I'm averaging 52 mpg. My drive to work is all highway pretty much from start to end but for the first few days I decided to take the back roads just so I could very my speeds and play with it a little. This is my 3rd Toyota hybrid. I owned a 2004 Prius and a 2007 Camry. I used to tell people the Camry was so much better than the Prius because of the ride and handling. The ride in the new Prius is not as smooth as the Camry but they've made a lot of improvements in the handling. The seats are also much more comfortable than the gen II Prius.

The coolest feature is the Bluetooth streaming audio. I love being able to just leave my EVO smartphone on my belt clip and launch music on the radio. I haven’t had a chance to use the Solar cooling yet but that will be nice in the summertime.

    Howdy,

I am glad that your enjoying your new ride. I have a Blizzard Pearl also most of the time it looks like the underside of a glacier than a blizzard though. On your first tank and getting 43.5 in the winter thats pretty good, it will only get better as the weather warms. Check your tire pressure make sure its at least at the manufactures recommended pressure. Most members will set there pressures somewhere between the recommended pressure and the maximum allowed pressure on the tire sidewall. Others exceed the maximum allowed pressure, I would recommend against that though. Lastly if you are not already and can stand it drive in ECO mode it will be better for winter road conditions and should bring up MPG's.

Aloha! Thanks for the info. I tried ECO today when I was driving alone on the road, not as bad as I expected -- it actually moved. LOL
