Hey Andy, are you happy with the overall fit and finish of the HIC visors? I really want to get some and just don't want to pay nearly $200 for the factory JDM ones. If you're really happy with them I'll order some.

Nevermind. I forgot there was a thread about all of this and found it. Everyone seems pretty happy and just ordered them.

HEy andino, what's the weight on your (friend's) XXR rims? I actually am considering them myself.

Online they look inexpensive <$100? Does that sound right?

Nothing wrong with more than one person having the same kind of rim. Great minds think alike.

Hey sorry I haven't been on the past few days. Been super busy with school. Also got a job offer so I may be moving from socal to norcal but nothing is finalized yet. I'm taking classes at the moment so unless I can get into an open campus program at a school up north, then I'll be staying. As much as I hate moving though, I have my fingers crossed it'll work out because this job would open up a lot of doors financially hehe.

Anyways, I'll try and get a wheel off tonight to get a weight on them. So sorry if you guys have been watching this thread waiting for me to post that. I'll try my hardest to get them on a scale tonight.

@roypaik - Nothing wrong with more than one people with a set of wheels but bare in mind that these are only temporary for me since I'm borrowing them from a friend. I also have a different theme so these wheels don't exactly flow with that.

@Rodney - Thanks man. Your's is looking great as well man. We def got to represent at TORC so I'm trying my hardest to get as much done as I can by the show. Def nice to see the Toyota/scion marketing plan working for some. Hey maybe we'll move into a 3gs hybrid or 3ls hybrid after this =P haha

Alright guys, I was able to get the wheel on the scale a few mins ago. I didn't dismount the tire so I don't have the true weight of the rim alone but I also weighed the stock 15s so you can get an idea of the difference in weight.

    Stock Toyota 15x6 +45mm with Yoko Avid S33 LRR 195/65/15- 33.5 lbs +/- 0.5 lbs

    XXR 522 18x9.5 +38 with Falken ZE912 225/40/18 - 47.0 lbs +/- 0.5 lbs

    Summary:
~13.5 lbs increase in wheel/tire combo weight per wheel. That's a ~40.3% increase in weight per wheel.

How much does that effect performance? Well its a 2:1 ratio of static weight vs rotational so I gained ~27lbs static weight feel or equivalent of 108lbs extra. I lost ~5mpg (48.x to 43.x) but tracking felt much more stable and turn ins much sturdier. Where I feel the most impact though is in the acceleration and braking (which is expected for such a heaving wheel).

All in all, I think its well worth the hit for how much better the car looks. I def get more thumbs up now that I have such an aggressive stance and I'm sure there will much more respect given once I get my car sitting proper.

Anyways, I hope that helps you guys who are looking at wheels. Just remember that the ones I have are pretty wide as well so if you're going for something in the 7.5-8" width, it will be a good bit lighter.

**Yikes those suckers are heavy!!** It probably feels more stable cause you're driving with boulders man. :) Just messing with ya, Andy. In your case, it's style over function.

^^ Haha yeah these wheels are only temporary. Hopefully my new wheels will be a little lighter though the rears will be wider.

Now to find some camber plates. Anyone know someone who can machine some? I don't really want to buy aimgain's rear end just go get -3* camber haha

I dug up my old thread on swapping back and forth between my stock wheels and my 17s and I see my stock 15s on the GenII were 31.5lbs. My 17s with the Kumho Ecsta ASX were 37.6-38.2lbs..

Your setup is HEAVY BRU! haha

They were only 7" wide. Yeah yeah I know yours are 9" but it's all in how you use em. :p

^^ hehe I use all 9.5" of my wheels trust me. I hit a 25 turn today at 45. It was fun but I wish I had a rear sway. Gotta enjoy turning fast while I can =P. Soon to be slammed!
