Don't forget the 6 cylinder Chevy Epica/Suzuki Veranda. They did 11 secs. So does a smart fortwo (13 sec) I think a Yaris w/ auto is close to 11 too.

We don't have Epica in the United States. And Yaris is very light, it should be as fast as the original Prius. You're right about the Smart, though.

Although this is bench racing, see Best & worst cars review, best & worst acceleration for slow cars.

I don't like comparing 0-60 mph times as there's too much room for variance, even more so than the 1/4 mile. Also, if one goes to a drag strip, you'll get a 1/4 or 1/8th mile time and speed but not a 0-60 mph time. (I've taken my cars drag racing before (not my Prius though) so I have a good sense of what 1/4 mile times are possible given a certain amount of power and weight.)

Although this wasn't sold in the US, the diesel Smart ForTwo at http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/...-12-06/smart-fortwo/1206_car_smart_fortwo.htm took 23 seconds to do 0-60 mph.
