how does parking brake work? Test driving, I think I pushed a button. Is there no mechanical lever/adjustment needed for parking brake& lever? I am worried what if the button doesnt work someday.
There is a pedal on the left side of the driver's footwell that is an emergency parking brake. Pushing it down engages the brakes, pushing it down again releases them.
The button is to set "Park" on the transaxle. When you depress the button, a parking pawl engages to mechanically lock the transaxle. This should not be confused with the parking brake, which is activated by depressing a small pedal on the far left of the driver's footwell. A cable connected to that pedal will set the rear brakes.
Practice a few times or have have someone show you so that you know what the "applied" and "released" positions look/feel like.
