It seems like everyone is getting a great deal with Prius. I'm very envied and inspired at the same time. I have been going to many dealears and getting quotes from them via e-mail, but they won't budge on my offer. So sad. I'm not sure if its because toyota dealears are selling Prius like hot cakes in LA, CA. Perhaps that's why they won't budge when I offered them a OTD price? Or may be I'm not being realistic about the price that i offered? But after reading this thread, the price that I offered seems possible for a 2011 II base model. I'm not sure. Now I'm wonder if I should look for a 2010 model with solar package.

How much did you offer for the 2011 II? As I posted, I have the same problem. People here must be really good at negotiation :)

I punched your zip code in at truecar and got below invoice prices on III's and IV's. That's how I bought my prius. The have to honor that price but watch out for dealer add-ons. Give it a try and post back.

So the price that truecar is realistic? So right now for my zip 75251, Great price is less than $22356, average price $22865, above market $23017. But it also tells me my target price is $23541  Which number should I look at? Seem like the website wants me to be ripped off a lot by the dealer :)

I didn't like truecar posted price neither. I think the listed prices are very confusing and they are really not that much of different from one to another. After doing some research and knowing how much I want to spend, I went to one dealer and offered him $22,500 OTD for a 2011 II. He was mad. And when I asked for the quote he printed for me, he crumbled the paper in a ball and said," NO, this belongs to internal !!" As I walked out the room, he said to me at the back, " I can take off $800." I left without turning back.

I used the zip code for Cambridge,Mass not
Dallas Tx. [where do you live?]
The only way truecar works is if you have participating dealers near that posts a best buy price. You click on the price and it shows you a dealer that will honor that price and the distance from your zipcode. Otherwise, it only gives you a price target which is worthless. Put in the zipcode for Cambridge,Mass and see how it works.

Punched in zip 90005 and got great prices on 2010 III's from 3 dealers msrp 24560 -- sell for 21524 or less. 2011 II --msrp 23810--sell 21982. No hassle price. Watch for add-ons though. Of course, sales tax is extra.

Ended up getting a 2010 V w/ Adv. Tech package in Pearl White with mats package for $31,800 + 0%. They also threw in $300 more than anyone else was willing to for a trade in, so I feel like I got it for $31,500.

We turned down a blue at 30,900 + AT + Mats at another dealer. Wife couldn't stand blue.

    So far, so good.

Thanks for your input. I actually moved to Dallas recently :) Now I have a better idea how truecar price works, but after visiting a few dealers here (I initially contacted them through Edmunds), I have a feeling that they will have unnecessary options or try to rip me off on doc fees etc

Looks like you did just fine. Congrats on your new Prius III and I'm sure you'll get many trouble-free years and miles. I assume the special color is Pearl White. Many PriusChatters would not like the Paint Protection and Shield Package, but looks like you didn't have any choice. If you've been browing PriusChat, your sure to find lots of hints, tips and tricks. Remember to read that manual, too.

Geez, I thought the deal was a 2010. If it's a 2011, the deal becomes fabulous!

Toyota Sunnyvale just brought back the 'Good, Better, Best' ad for the Prius, now it's for 2011 ........

Prius III no/nav with mats (the $25,010 MSRP) is ad'd at

    $22,988 ..... 26 units at that price.

Just a week ago or so, they were ad'ing the same car at $24.2k

What does this tell me? Jan and first half of Feb can be a 'dead zone', i.e., bad time to buy that model year of car.

On the 2009 fed tax form, I also saw that sales tax could be written off, if new car was purchased after Feb 17th. That also tells me something.
