A Rat Ate My Chevy Volt

Not that suprising, plenty of people on here with Prius vs rodent stories.

 

I guess that rat didn't have very good taste.

 

anyone try the bounce option as suggested by an auto mechanic?

 

I'd be rigging up a couple of ultrasonic rodent repellers. They seem to work pretty well around the house.

 

there are devices that make high sounds that humans can not hear but those animals do hear it
also i use a metal fence that u drop underneeth the prius to make it less execable

oooohhh kaay!!. i dont have a rodent problem at home. i suggested the bounce option since it would be attached to the car all the time including away from home like the article...

 

i wonder if this problem is big enough for the mfg's to pay attention to?

 

rodent infestation is most certainly a big enough problem and has been addressed ineffectively for years and that is not likely to change if auto manufacturers get into the game

 

i thought perhaps some type of shielding on the wiring harness. would be easier than aftermarket solutions.

 

i dk if that is viable. rats are ingenious in getting into very tight areas. all the wiring would have to be shielded which means pretty much closing up all the nooks and crannies to prevent them from entering in the first place. that would be a daunting task

 

I would suggest something that just makes them leave the vehicle. A dead rodent in your car would probably smell very bad. And, finding the carcase may be difficult (costly) if the car needs some disassembly.

 

I thought we had mice in our garage this week and freaked out; I was so worried for the Prius! Turns out it was baby birds singing during sunrise.
