Prius in wreck - pics included - estimate to repair please

looks like 5 or 6 hundred bucks, give or take.

That's hardly a wreck. That doesn't look too bad, the above two estimate sound about right.

If the cost is at or slightly above your deductible, I wouldn't put a claim in with your insurance.

If you are in socal, I can recommend an excellent body shop, and make that thing disappear.

Is there an accident report?
(There shouldn't be...but you never know...especially in the PRC... )

Don't involve the insurance company unless the guestimate is well north of a grand...and I mean WELL north.
Two reasons:
Reason # first: So-called "accident forgiveness" is a myth. The good hands people, or the lizard, or whomever will glaaaaadly fix this scrape for you however (comma!) you're gonna pay them back in the end when they raise your rates. Then...if you get into a for-real accident, or suffer hail damage, fire, flooding, civil unrest etc... then you'll get dropped like bloomers on prom night!

Reason # next: Once the word "accident" gets attached to your VIN#, then your car's value takes a HUGE ding. It's like having the words "social disease" on your facebook page. That's why I axed about the accident report. If there is already paper on this little scrape---either insurance or from the Po-Po, then you're already skrood. Don’t believe me?
Look on eBay, or try getting an offer for your car after you use the phrase “good as new.”

I'm really cheap.

If that were mine, I'd buff out what I could and live with it.
This would save a lot of money and make parking much easier, no more trying to avoid door dings ;-)

I would not file for insurance on this because I have $1000 deductibles, because I'm cheap.

 

That appears like just enough damage to be expensive. Hate to give bad news, but it's just enough to need refinishing, repainting, repair...I'm guessing upwards of 1000...that's if you go the totally legitimate body shop full repair route.

Sorry, bad day.

I agree. That's not a wreck - a wreck doesn't drive. What this guy has got is a kiss. Some passing car has shown its love for the Prius and given it a wee kiss.

It'll buff out, mostly.

 

Did you lose a wheel cover, too?

 

Where I live thats around $2000 easy. Either its 2 new doors or alot of body filler on both doors including the back edge of the front fender. Either way lots of labor and paint.

I just had front and rear bumper replaced on mine about 6 months ago and it was $2500 for 2 skins and the rear impact brace behind the rear skin + labor & paint.

My car is always garaged, very low miles and the metal skin paint did not match the new rubber paint very well.

Very tough matching paint on a new urethane skin to existing metal especially on a Prius which I think does not have a very tough coat of paint on it to begin with. Fades quickly. My point is don't be surprised how the paint doesn't match well if your going with a new bumper too.

So....I like the rub it out and forget it approach previously mentioned.
My bumpers were covered by the guy who rear ended me.
