Just got a letter in the mail today from Toyota of Auburn (Doxon Toyota) and they said all Toyota Prius are being sold for $59 over invoice. I guess it's for "Customer Appreciation Days" January 27th thru 31st. Might be worth a trip down to south Seattle area? Looks like it also includes 2 year 25,000 mile pre-paid maintenance deal.

AND, you may still be able to negotiate beyond that! Earlier this week, I bought a 2010 Prius III at more than $200 below invoice. The dealership was able to do this because there is also a dealer withholding amount built into the price (of a little over $400). Also, if you have a trade in and the dealership sells used cars, they may be able to make some money there.

The search continues for a 2010 II. Prices up here are about $21,400 after the $1000 rebate being offered for 2010s through Feb. I'm considering pulling the trigger if they'll throw in a few options (lower rocker molding, floor mats, cargo area mat, cargo net, mud flaps, tint). Wishful thinking? Do dealers typically have all of the options available in stock and how willing are they to throw these in to close a deal? Thanks!

Did I get a good deal? Could I have done better?

Please ease my mind about this deal. I originally went in to buy a 2011 Prius III w/Nav for $23,800 but ended up with this.....

I just got a 2011 Prius IV with Solar Package for $28,000 (MSRP $32,115, Invoice $30,407). Leased for $389 down, $309/month for 15,000 miles per year in Raleigh, NC. Might have been an end of month write off but I think it's a decent deal.

How does that compare? They gave me a great trade in as well @ full Kelly Blue Book. Is this a decent deal?

    Thanks in advance!

edit: nm i guess 2011 is out... but that much below invoice for a 2011 is strange... unless you meant a 2010?

Would like to know what dealership you received a quote for $23,800 on the 2011 Prius III w/Nav?

Leith....ended up buying from Fred Anderson however. I really do think it was an end of month thing though on 1/31 where they both had to hit a number. Just guessing. My first deal was for a pretty red 2011 Prius III w/Solar for $25,500 but it was sold before I could close. Getting the IV for $2500 more probably wasn't as great a deal but I had to close a deal by the end of the night.

Nope, it definitely was a 2011. Only one dealer in this area has any 2010s left (Mark Jacobson) and they were not budging on price which was odd.
The dealer I bought my 2011 Prius IV (w/solar) told me he took a big loss on the deal so they could hit their number for January but of course, he could have been blowing smoke. I also got way more for my trade than expected. :D

Any chance I can trade in my lease one year in and not be totally underwater when the redesigned 2012 comes out?

BhamPrius - doesn't sound too bad of a deal. I did find out the 2011's finally arrived in the Puget Sound area. So the dealers might be willing to drop a little more here in the next week or so.

What made you change your mind and went with the Prius IV. Is it just the heated leather seats? It seemed that the better deal would have been the Prius III with Nav/Sunroof. I'm still struggling on which Prius to get I'm what all the options for less than $25,000 so I'm still searching.

Re: Did I get a good deal? Could I have done better?

Honestly, it was because they didn't have any Prius III with the Solar Roof packages left in any color I liked. The IV is about $2800 more retail so I guess paying $2500 extra isn't a huge deal but you are right, the $25,500 was probably a better deal. Actually, after driving it two days, I'm loving the leather seats. I've had two Corollas and a Camry and the cloth seats feel too much like my old cars. Also, it rained today and the driver/passenger windows were totally clear (rain repellent windows on the IV). If you have allergies, I'm sure the ionizer will come in handy some days and the Homelink on the IV is cool so you don't to put your garage door opener in the car. That, with the heated leather seats, probably isn't worth $2800 more but I'm still happy. With the lease deals, there isn't a huge difference in monthly payment and our trade-in means we got to pocket the cash now and pretty much have our payments covered for the lease term....not to mention the gas savings each month and the fact we didn't have to pay tax on the purchase price upfront.

So if you have $25,000 to spend, I would recommend a III with just the Navigation package. You could probably get one for $24,000 for a 2011. The Solar Roof is an add'l $1800 and the IV is an additional $2800....together, it's probably not worth $4600. Hope that helps!

    Is this a Smart Deal?

Got a quote from my dealer for a 2010 IV with Solar Roof, Floor Mats, and Bumper Applique for $28,500 which includes the $1,000 cash rebate before TT&L. The car has under 10 miles on the odometer.

TrueCar lists the price as $27,977.

I balked, and they came back with the same price but offered $1,000 above KBB on my trade in as an incentive. This appears to be above what I would most likely get in a private sale based on eBay and Craigslist.

Does this sound like a good deal on a IV Solar? Could I do better on a 2010?

I'm now the latest owner of a Prius! [IMG] Thanks for the words of encouragement..it was just what I needed to hear prior to making such a big purchase (paid cash)..I had a bit of anxiety about spending nearly my life's savings, but I'm already in love!

    The breakdown:

2010 Prius II - Winter Grey w/floor mats, cargo mat, rear bumper applique
    Listed Price=$22,372 ($500 below invoice)
    Instant Rebate=$1,000
    Purchase Price=$21,372

Document Fee=$35 (talked down from $100)
    Title/Registration=$103
    Tax=$2126 (9.5% here in WA!)

    OTD=$23,636

Car had 11 miles on it when I bought it. I added about 60 or so on my drive home. Averaged 49 MPG despite cruising at about 75MPH.

Pics to come soon! A serious THANK YOU to all who've helped make this decision a great one. I'm happy to be a part of the Prius family and looking forward to many adventures out on the road! Happy trails!

I would get a price between the "Dealer Cost" and the "Factory Invoice" that is listed with the options you want from Truecar.com. With a 2010 you should be able to get fairly good deal right now. Truecar should be able to tell you what that car is selling for in your area and region also.

I just got a Black 2010 V with nav, mats and cargo mat for 26,450 includes the 1000 dollar rebate.plus 250 for title/reg and delivery .Not sure if that is a good deal or not, but was best i could get in the cleveland, oh area. Quotes from 5 dealers, and bidding against each other, but that was the lowest they would go. The dealer I ended up purchasing from did not have a black V, but they got it from another dealer.

Really like the LED headlamps, 17 inch wheels, leather heated seats, Bluetooth phone and audio works so great on my iphone. Did not get the ATP Pacakage..Auto park and Lane assist, etc just seemed too expensive for what it was..

But i am real happy with my purchase. Was a long time lurker here researching my options and questions.. Thanks to you all for great advice and your expertise.
    :)

    Hi folks,

I am now on the Prius market and it seems like all of you guys got GREAT deals! I really envy you :)

I am in Dallas area and I was looking for some 2010 II base model but it seems like there aren't that many left. The remaining 2010's are:

    1) fully loaded (e.g. leather seats)
    2) with a lot of mileage (>200 mi, I saw one with 400 mi, which I don't believe is a *new* car)

So I guess I will have to buy a 2011 (bye bye $1000 incentive). Even with that, pretty much all dealers I visited have 2011 TWO with at least some options (>$500, like carpet mat or protection package). So I guess the price I was offered was around $23500 + TTL. They seem to charge around $300 for the title and doc fee. That makes the OTD above $25000.

Do you guys have any advice (especially those who bought Prius in DFW area) to make it down? Maybe the reason I didn't get a great quote was because I was paying cash and no trade-in (from which they normally compensate some loss I guess) According to truecar.com (how is the data reliable here?), the average price for TWO is around $23000 and "great" price for $22500. After some research this sounds realistic, but this is just too far from what I see here. I don't want to rip off the dealer too much but I also don't want to be ripped off :D Please advise. Thanks!

The IV I bought in August is about 1k more now at my dealer through trucar. Gas prices here are giving the dealers the patience to hold for a better price.

I just picked up a new 2010 Prius III this weekend with Nav/Sunroof in Blizzard Pearl for $26,200. It also had floor mats & rear bumper protector. I went with the 0% interest instead of the $1k rebate as it was a far better deal after I went through the numbers.

I also looked at a Prius III with Nav but I was quoted $25,200 for that so adding the solar sunroof for only $1k was a great deal. We also looked at the same color in a Prius IV with Nav/Sunroof but it was $29,000 before rebate. Both my wife & I don't like leather seats as they are cold in winter & hot & sticky in the summer. The heated seat option is nice as the seats warmed up but I felt like I was sliding around in the seat as I drove. So in the long run I think we got the best deal on the one we bought.

Now if I could have only been able to get the rebate & 0% interest!
