Why not buy one in whatever state they are available in? We want a PHV Prius more so than a regular Prius so that might be the solution for buying one in 2012 rather than waiting another year.

Well, I'm driving the greenest, most efficient mid sized car on the planet right now! Many years from now, when plug in's are widely available in second or third gen models at consumer friendly prices, I'll look at Toyota... and Ford, Chevy, Hyundai etc.!;)

New Prius waiting isn't so bad. The PHV model will be the 4th time for me over the past 11 years. Each of the previous 3 were totally worth it.

My expectation of when we'd start seeing them on the road has been Earth Day 2012. Knowing that production of the packs will begin the end of this year, it seems likely that select markets will take delivery early next year.

I can think of a few:
    - Prius owners (according to many non-Prius owners)
    - People who make rational decisions. When you're in it, you can't see it, so unless the look of your car has true external negative impact then outside aesthetics are a luxury that can be pushed way down the list of priorities.

A 13 mile PHEV isn't for me just because the range is insufficient. I'm holding out for the 2019 Prius PHEV-45 or the 2019 Prius EV-100.
