I did a similar thing ($15 DL) - the only thing that is odd - is the main manual states there are (4) separate manuals (but there is only one PDF).

But it seems everything is there.... They also reference indexes (page 1) - which I really can't find (7K pages). But on searching, I find everything I need (takes TIME to search that thing).

    Any pointers Paja????

The links don't work for me (PDF - normally you'd click them and they would take you to a different spot in the manual).

Earlier I bought $30 and $35 versions. They both have the same material with a different interface but both work the same. I'm pretty sure all 4 books are there, sections listed as being in the other books on the Toyota website are on the .pdf.

I also haven't found the indexes and my between page links don't work either. I haven't heard of any bootleg copies that have those features

Once you learn what's in the sections of the manual you can start your search at the start of that section and save time. The table of contents is pretty useful.

Here is how the PDF looks.
The blue button INFO in the text is a dummy picture. It has to be be the hyperlink to explanation/other process section in the original. The PDF is probably generated from the Toyota media library CD.

The pdf I downloaded had none of that tree structure. Still searchable, but that's all.

    Bummer.

One of my CDs automatically shows the tree structure, the other on I need to turn the tree structure on.

Do you have a small page symbol in the top left corner with a single blue ribbon hanging down the front of it.

On my CD that doesn't automatically show the tree structure I need to click on that symbol to get the tree structure.

I just took the plunge. $13 on my Visa card and the download goes to a zip file. You will need WinRar or equivalent to get the download converted to a pdf. Then you need to save a copy of that pdf to an Adobe version, which you can save on your PC. The full service manual is there and an additional wiring diagram is included. I will see what I can glean from this now that I have a copy.

I received my manual from sky.manuals yesterday. I tried to leave feedback on eBay and the listing has been removed. Most likely a VERO takedown from Toyota. All the listings for sky.manuals have been removed from eBay.

Try the link on post #27. I used it a few days ago and it was fine. You will have to enter a credit card online (always scary, but it worked) for the amount of $12.99. Then you get an email with a code that lets you do the download. You need WinRar or equivalent to get the zip file. Then you "unzip" it to a pdf. Hopefully, you already have Adobe reader on you PC. Then you save the unzipped file to the directory of your choice and it's yours forever. It's really two pdfs - the main manual is nearly 7600 pages! There is also an electrical diagram for every system. I'd say it was a good bargain and it has bookmarks that let you peruse by each system in the car.

Hurry up in case that goes away too! Good luck.

Probably should have done that but I just ordered the CD for $39.90. I understand it has a nice picture on it and an index. I was able to use Pay Pal so if it doesn't come through I should get my money back anyway?

Thanks! Just figured that out now. I was clicking the top page symbol, which just gave bare-bones display of pages. Clicking the page symbol with that blue ribbon and I'm all sorted. :D

I've been finding the pdf too massive for my computer. Worked out how to split it up into sections corresponding to the main title sections. Assuming you have Adobe Acrobat Pro:

    1. Just for insurance, make a copy of the main file.

    2. Open the main file.

    3. Click on the second bookmark option, the one with the blue ribbon, to display the index.

    4. The first section is General, then Audio..., then Brake, and so on. To create a new pdf of just the General section, with index intact: select every section but General (maybe click one section, then press ctrl key and press the other sections one at a time, it's not many).

For me the process of loading the whole pdf, loading the index and selecting these index sections can be very pokey. It's just takes patience: tell it what to do, then wait. It's best to just let the file load for a few minutes, then select the indexed bookmark section, and leave that to load for several more minutes.

Eventually, with all the stuff you don't want selected, click options at top of bookmark section, then delete pages. It will warn that there's no undoing. Do make sure you're doing this on a copy, just in case...

It will crunch away, with progress bars. Eventually it will complete, and you should see just the section you wanted to keep in the index.

If you happen to navigate away from Acrobat, say to surf while it's working, it will likely show a white screen when you switch back to it. Or just refuse to switch back. Just be patient: eventually it will wrap up.

Now in the file menu choose save as. Do not choose save. Pick a destination directory and name. I believe it defaults to the original name (more danger...). Maybe go with that but append it, say as:

    2010 Toyota Prius Repair Manual_General.pdf

For the file you create for the first section. Again there will be a pause and another progress bar delay. Eventually it will be done, and if you check, say in Windows Explorer, you'll see the main file, and new, much more manegable and faster loading sub section file. ;)

    5. Repeat the above exercise for each index section.

Yup, it appears Sky Manuals' stuff is gone from eBay. Not sure what is going on....

It is easy :), manuals priced at USD10-30 could not be oficial Toyota licensed ones. Doesn't matter if download or burned CD.

I agree with that statement, but most people who are just curious as to how things work would rather pay $10. A serious mechanic, on the other hand, would pay several hundred dollars to have the official stuff that is updated and more "correct".

It just depends on how you look at it. I would much rather pay more for better quality than to try to save a few dollars and buy cheap junk. In this case, I am one of those who is just curious, so the quality can be a bit less...

Regardless of being bootleg, I believe it is the real thing. It's not the most informative Shop Manual I've come across: very terse, no overviews or explanation sections. Litle or no clarification of the periodic maintenance items listed in the Owners Manual.

Got to the link below. Tech2004, Tech2006 and Tech2010 are the three generations of manuals. These are much better than the eBay item.

    http://www.selidori.com/tech/prius/DOC/

The download is a bit slow, but well worth the time.
