I just got home with my 2010 Prius III, black with dark gray interior with navi + extras (jbl, ipod connector, XM radio, bluetooth), moon roof and solar panel plus extras (lower rocker molding, mats including cargo, and cargo organizer) with 10 miles before I test drove it for $26,403 ($400 below invoice) + tax/license with 0% financing for 5 years. I paid $595 for GAP and $670 for 4 years/48K mile warranty. I did not put anything down to save my 10K for a rainy day. I figured with no interest charges, I dont have to try and pay off the car to save on interest. I looked at edmunds, overstock, truecar and other sites for common price paid for the options that I have and it seems that I got a good deal. Any opinions? Should I return the GAP and 4 year warranty? My original plan was to get a 2011 Prius II for $22,988 but with approved loan of 5.99% for 5 years. I figured, just get the higher 2010 and my loan interest can go to the extras that came with the 2010.

    Thanks ...
*excited but nervous new prius owner*

P.S. I have 3 days or 250 miles to change my mind and return the car if I want to.

***wow that signature is 5 years old! did not get my 2006 prius then ... got the 2010 now!

How did you get it below invoice and 0% for 60 months after Jan 3rd? I thought it was 0.9% now?

0% is available until 1/31/11 and since it's a 2010, they can offer below invoice.

Don't return this car! I have no advice about the extra $ for the extended warranty, but it sounds like you got exactly what you wanted AND you can't go wrong with the 0% financing. You SHOULD be excited! Congrats on a great deal!

    Hello all --

I just wanted everyone to know how much I have appreciated the time you have taken to help inform each other - this is a great resource.

I have been tossing and turning on these for a few days -- and was looking for a little input ...

I have boiled it down to three options ...

    1 - 2010 - Package II - $22394 --- which comes to $24500 out the door. 0% financing for 60 months.

    2 - 2009 - Package V (nav. - etc) - $18400 --- which comes to $20420 out the door. 2.9% financing for 60 months. 30K miles -- Certified --

    3 - 2008 - Package V (nav. - etc) - $16800 --- which comes to $18691 out the door. 2.9% financing for 60 months. 43K miles -- Certified --

I'm just wondering if the value for the 10 will hold as well -- considering the savings with the 0% and a teeny bit better gas mileage ... The 2 pre-owned seem to be good deals -- but I'm wondering if anyone in NorCal has had luck with a Package II for 21K or better.

I really appreciate any help ...

I'm sure like all Toyotas they will hold their value well. It's all about what you want in your car. The brand new Prius II is nice but if you want the factory nav the used ones aren't that abused to turn down. I just got a 2010 Prius III fron Sunnyvale Toyota (near San Jose) with everything but the sun/solar roof option for a little over $23k. It was a great deal but it was starting to get a little crazy. While we were filling out the forms, we heard 3 other people asking about the car we were buying. Thankfully the dealer helping us took the keys out of the box and had them in his pocket.

I would go for the 2010 as it is the redesigned Prius (though the Gen II folks might still prefer the older ones). With 0% financing, the difference between certified and new thin out. For 2010 package II, try an internet quote from every toyota dealer within 50 miles. There isn't a lot left so I figure if you are stuck on a color, it will be hard. You got to hurry for the 2010! Try sunnyvale or walnut creek toyota. Don't talk to the sales folks directly. Get in touch with the internet sales person/manager over phone/ email.

Did you work with the Internet guy at Sunnyvale Toyota? It's a good price, guess they held on to too many Prius because most of the dealerships are completely sold out of 2010's type II and III in the Bay Area.

I presume you took the $1000 rebate? When I was shopping during the last week of December, his prices were a big fat joke compare to the dealers around. When I spoke to him, he said he "maybe" was able to ask for a small discount because he had people lining up for the car, typical B.S. from a car salesman. Glad the other places I worked with were happy to work with me.

I was told that you can get cheaper GAP with your regular insurance company. About warranty, why do you need a 4 year one? Is that in addition to the 3 years/36K miles? I would personally think of extended warranty only after I am close to my 3 years. You can buy it before the basic warranty ends (3 years).

Picked up a Silver 2010 III with no options for $20,988 + TTL. 6% tax in MD blows, and I got hit with a few fees, but $23,500 OTD.

Bought 2011 4 with Solar Roof pkg today - pick up tomorrow. Will be a bit chg from my '08 Dodge one-ton Mega Cab 4x4 Dually Cummins 4x4 pickup (13 mpg - and drive 40k mi.s + per year)!

Blizzard Pearl w/ Misty grey interior.

Pd invoice plus $250 (employee cost) - just over $30k.

FWIW, called the Dallas area (bought in Abilene) and they would sell it at invoice, but the $250 was worth it to buy local.

    Hey Tink,

I made a similar move and traded my 2009 GMC Sierra 1500 for my Prius III back in December. Went from 16.5 mpg to 50.4 mpg so far. Love the mileage improvement! I am saving $120 a month. Enjoy your new Prius.

Yes, almost all the 2010's are sold there as well as other places in the bay area. I didn't get much of an attitude from them like I did at other places in the bay area. I kept getting the attitude of "if you don't buy it, we'll sell it to the next person." Doesn't give you much room to negotiate.

Where did you end up getting your Prius from? I still have to figure out where I go to get it serviced. Sunnyvale isn't too far but not exactly on my way to work.

I've been averaging 45k miles per year - will save approximately $750 per month. Makes it an easier decision. Sure feel close to the ground, though.... Lots of country roads. No grill guard. How do you think it would look with a grill/deer guard? Hurt my mileage? Redneck Prius!

If you know for sure your gonna wack a deer, duck down below the dash line and try to keep on the road. I seen a guy in a SUV a few months back take a deer in the windshield. He is no longer here as the deer took his head off.

As I mentioned the other day - I am very new ... I did see a base listed at $20,775 at Hooman in Long Beach. I happened to be there for work so I went in to see what the catch was - there are 2 dealer add-ons (lojack and something I can't recall) for like $3000.

They came back with a $21800 price. I found a NorCal dealer at $22,234 for a base 2011. It seems that is a decent price -- any thoughts?

I looked and didn't see a similar thread for 2011s - Would someone be starting one soon? Or should we keep posting 2011 info in here? I just look to the veterans for advice ...

    Paradox,

On the order tracker, I did not see any net prices paid. Is this me or did no one post what price they paid?

    Best
