I recently wrote about my MFD left screen failing on my 2010 V. The right half functioned normally. Well, the left half of the screen just started working again which provided a clue to the cause. Those more knowledgeable than me will have to weigh in on this one. I was parked with the ready light on since it was cold and I wanted the engine to warm the cabin. I removed both front map light lenses and tried to remove the two bulbs but could not get them out (didn’t know they pulled straight out and I was trying to turn them). I left the lenses off with the bulbs in place and pulled out of the space to go home and noted the left half display was not working. Two days later, I just tried to pull the bulbs straight out and they came out. I then inserted the LED replacements, installed the lenses and started the car. The left side MFD then worked normally and has ever since. Coincidence? Take care.
This just in...I did have papers on the dash which I had printed from these forums. So, I bet it was the papers I had on the ash. No objective evidence to prove otherwise. Mystery solved.
Had mine go out while i was driving the other day. Amazingly it started working when i removed the toll road ticket i had thown on the dash. After it started working again i realized the ticked had covered the heads up display on the left. the right side is not heads up.
Right you are, sir, and the TouchTracer images are not part of the external HUD projection. Thanks to everyone for walking me through this . I really appreciate everyone's patience. Lesson learned; things often are different than they appear. I had no idea there was a projector on the dask in front of the display window. Who knew? Pat
