    HEY PRIUS CHAT FOLKS !!!

    :):):):)

January 10, 2011 marked Toyota's unveiling of the newest member of the Prius Family at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit !!!

For those Southern California folks, like me, who were unable to attend this prestigious event in Detroit, there was an exclusive Southern California (Glendale Studios in Glendale, Ca) live broadcast debut of the new Prius.

Prius Live! was broadcasted simultaneously to all U.S. Toyota dealerships, immediately following the Detroit Auto Show debut.

Prius Live! began with a walkaround presentation and was followed by a real-time Q&A with the broadcast audience.

I would like to personally extend the greatest thanks to Toyota Motor Corporate, Toyota Marketing, Toyota University, Glendale Studios, and ALL responsible for taking part in yet another milestone event for our favorite car ... The PRIUS !!!

Thank you for the wonderful gift too !!!

Rodney, I'm going to move your thread so that it gets a little more attention. Did you get to poke around in the v a good bit? Have any impressions to share?

The Prius v looks wonderful - thanks for all the great pictures. One more picture could do it for us.

We cannot decide whether the Prius v will be our next car until we see a picture with two sets of golf clubs (including drivers) comfortably tucked in the back - side-to-side please - with the rear seats up.

If it can do that, then we may be the first kids on the block to own one.

    HEY DANNY !!!

    :):):):)

Thanks for the adjustment !!! I wasn't sure where to post it, this is the appropriate place !!!

The v is quite an impressive Prius !!! I was very pleased to finally get the opportunity to see the v in person from the inside out ... it does live up to what it represents as far as being "v"ersatile !!!

I know there are several concerns with the MPG differences between the Prius and the Prius v. One must keep in mind that the design and the weight of the v is quite different. The v has a slightly higher coefficient of drag as well as being heavier and so that results in a reduction in MPGs. It is still a very well efficient vehicle in its class in my opinion.

There are also concerns from people regarding the interior capacity availability. One must also keep in mind that the v is in a class targeted not to accommodate 8 passengers, but is targeted toward a smaller family occupancy.

Overall, I am quite pleased with the v, it definitely lived up to my expectations !!!

Maybe after Grad School, I'll be able to purchase a v of my own !!!

Keep up the great work here on Prius Chat, Danny !!!

    You're doing a great job !!!

Excellent !!! Thank you for posting all of these photos! :)

... I'm also totally impressed by the car. It looks great! And the "control panel" in the middle of the dash (the entire center console) looks awesome!

    Hey Rodney,

In the photos, it seems like the front seats are a little higher. Can you confirm whether the seating position is higher in the "v" or whether it's just an illusion and it sits at the same height as the standard Prius.

    Aloha Prius Chat Folks !!!

    :):):):)

Thanks for the compliments James !!!
Yeah I'm pretty excited about the Prius v !!!

Thanks for the kind words GGARB !!!

M8s, I believe the specs for the rear cargo area are posted here on Prius Chat's front page. I'm sure you'll be able to find it through a search on here as well !!! Good luck and keep us posted what you decide !!!

    No problem RYBOLD !!!
It's a real great console, I was very pleased with the ergonomics on the setup of the center console too, it was very clear and everything was where it needed to be !!!

I will look around at some of the pictures and specs and I'll see what I can find out for ya !!!

32kcolors, It was really clear !!! I was very impressed at the clarity and non-glare even with all the lights shining upon the vehicle that afternoon !!!

Hello Rest, well the Prius is still a sedan, and the Prius v is the big brother. So you can have the best of both in two different Prius' !!!

It was great to finally meet ya too James !!! Thanks for your panoramic pics, they came out great !!!

    Great times !!!

So the panoramic moonroof is actually two separate moonroofs?

Looks like one giant piece of plastic. I don't recall seeing a gap on the outside (even though it's divided on the inside)

If by moonroof you mean a roof that doesn't open. It appears to be a single piece of resin with two separate electrically operated shades.

    HEY FOLKS !!!

    :):):):)

    That is correct !!!

The Moonroofs do not open, but only allow light to come through the panes.

The material is of a Resin material. It is a Panoramic roof on the outside, yet on the inside of the cabin it it divided between the Front and Rear Passengers.

As far as the electrical switch, it operates the shade that opens and closes the Moonroof.

We were advised that the model on display is a Concept Model, and that there will be minor tweaks and adjustments prior to Production coming soon. I am not sure if this Moonroof will be affected.

    Hope this helps !!!

I wonder if it's polycarbonate. Mercedes touted the smart fortwo had the largest one-piece polycarbonate roof in the industry. The Prius v might've just one-upped them.
