Unintended Acceleration -- While Parking

Fair enough (I'm sure I heard about it as well). I just kinda' had a kneejerk reaction when I saw Snopes linked. ;-)

 

i am anxious to see the nasa report. i hope it doesn't take as long as the O-ring report.

 

Does anybody know if NASA is obligated to publish the results? Because there may not even be a report if there are negative results and it's considered a pet project.

 

everything i googled came up march 10th. taking on the project. i'm sure they'll need a budget increase.

I wonder if that's why Toyota designed the doors so they'll open with a pull of the handle from the inside, even if the locks are engaged. Hello, 911? I'm trapped in my Prius, and can't get the door open!!!

Best part of the video is when the driver exits the parking lot without so much as leaving a note.

On the BMW 328 (at least the 1999 models). If you locked the car with the remote the inside door handles would not open the car.

I had to try it - and it was correct (I made sure the window was opened before I tested it).

It was supposedly an anti-theft feature.

Later on in the life of the car the remote control system developed a problem and only the driver's door could be opened from the inside.

Oh man, that sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen. Up in this neck of the woods we lose people from time to time when they drive into the water. Getting out of that BMW would not have been easy. You better hope you remembered to bring your glass breaker.

What happens is there is a recall to fix issues so owners can continue to use their car.

How can you do that? Power mode AND EV mode at the same time?

Looks like the financial problems are hitting insurance companies and they try to export problem to Japan. Oor their lawyers needs some additional cash.

 

Not possible together. Maybe OP (evpv) used the wrong conjuction AND instead of OR.
BTW: it doesn't matter what mode is used - 100% power request (flooring the throtle) is same in all modes. During the panic braking friction breaks are deployed immediately.
