Guys, Have you used Truecar.com to generate your price report? I wouldn't even step foot into a dealer until I've got the price I wanted and agreed to. I didn't experience any arrogance here in Florida when we were looking for our Prius. Granted there were some dealers that wanted significantly more than others but its business.....You can't take it personal. Just stay focused on your goal until you find the deal you want. Craig
Craigmri, that's it isn't it, just 'business..... you can't take it personal'. Keridwen, this might be your answer: Priusbaker in post #952 has a link, try it, give them a call. Wouldn't it be a nice trip? You deserve it and if it holds true you'll be well ahead of the game.
Heck ya seeing how we have 40" of snow now Fly down to Arizona, buy the Gen 3 and camp out until April before driving back to this Arctic region Mike
Norcal has a $1,500.00 rebate. I believe Socal does not have any rebates, but instead has a $750.00 dealer incentive. In Socal I think you can take the $750.00 and the interest rate.
I got off work early yesterday, so I stopped by the dealer. They keep the Prius in back so nobody bothered me. They still have a II for $19,888.00 in Winter Grey with Misty Grey interior that looked nice. Just not sure if I want a car that dark in Az. The only other colors they have at that price are Sandy Beach and Barcelona Red. Not really my taste.
hello everyone, just wanted to update you all on my counter offer with longo toyota in so cal. my contact wouldn't budge at 21,000 excluding tax,license/registration. should i wait until end of month or go with original offer of 24,000 out the door cash? thanks everyone.
I like your $21,000 + TTL number. If there is a dealer fee of say $500 maybe I can see that. I'm unfamiliar with sales tax and registration where you are but certainly not to the tune of $3000! Craig
According to your earlier post #949 ( http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...-2010-prices-paid-details-95.html#post1232189 ) you are getting a price of $21,200 for a base Prius III. So you are offering $21,000 and they are not biting? User yong got a Blizzard Pearl (additional $200 value) base III for $20,980 last week in Nor Cal - and I thought that was a very good deal. If I assume that your quote is not for a Blizzard Pearl, then you are about $400 off. My experience has been that if you call and can convince the dealer that you can come and buy the car within an hour, they will take the lower price. That's what happened to me - I was able to shave off $400 by saying that I will come within a half hour to buy. The flip side is that inventory may go down. In Nor Cal, at least three dealers were sold out of the 2010 base Prius II that I wanted. I would advise you to buy before the end of the year. Good luck!
sorry if this is a noob question, but what is the difference between "dealer incentive" and "rebate" thanks
I believe the rebate is from the manufacturer whereas the dealer incentive is a local or regional dealer give-away. Craig
A rebate is from the manufacturer to the consumer. A dealer incentive is from the manufacturer to the dealer. Most dealers will pass the incentive along to the consumer to sell more cars. However, if you are not an informed consumer you may not be aware that it exists. In Socal, you can get the dealer to give you the $750.00 and still take advatage of the cheap interest. Here in Phoenix you get a choice of a $1,000.00 rebate or the cheap interest, but not both.
Hi all, I am trying to purchase a 2010 Prius II in the New York City area. I read through dozens of pages of this thread, found some great tips, but still a little confused on what's the best price for my region. I would greatly appreciate any feedback from you experts here. Here are the facts for this area: The USAA price is $21,386 ($1200 under invoice) $21,386 is also the Truecar "Great Price" There is a $1000 manufacturer to dealer incentive, expires 1/3/11 There is 0% financing for 60 months, $16.67 per one-thousand borrowed There is a $1000 recent grad discount and $500 military discount that I do not qualify for The best advertised price is $20,588 with the $1500 of discounts mentioned above. Questions: 1. Is $21,386 the best price I should aim for? Since there are $1500 of discounts that I do not qualify for, should I be aiming for $19,886 or $20,588 instead? 1b. That is, does the dealer control the $1000 recent grad discount and $500 military discount? 2. Since there are no 2011 Prii in this area yet, perhaps there will be better incentive after 1/3/11? 3. Since the $1000 is a dealer incentive rather than a cash back, is it either 0% financing or $1000 rebate, not both? 4. I am considering leather, heated seats, and lumbar support for the II as I'm afraid I will regret it if I don't get it now. What would be a reasonable price to have these installed? Someone mentioned that they got leather installed for $850. What about heated seats and lumbar? A dealer offered "around $1500" for leather & heated seats. Thank you in advance for your insights!
"Thank you in advance for your insights!" Don't know about Insights, but I see on cars.com there are 2011s as close as PA and DE.... Jan 4th dealer and/or customer incentives would be expected to increase... as, still using cars.com as my reference, there are over 16,000 2010s on the lots.
Maybe the dealers are starting to aggressively move the 2010's. A SoCal dealer has them listed at $18,988 in today's newspaper.
