I'm a liberal conservative or conservative liberal, there are things I like on both sides and dislike on both sides, reasons I will not go into for this is not the forum for such things.

I got the Prius for the terrific fuel mileage (fiscally conservative) and the VERY low pollution (tree hugger liberal). However with the high fuel mileage comes lower fuel taxes that go to the federal and state so the roads don't get the attention they need.

I also like the technogeekiness of the Prius (not sure which category that would go in) :)

I'm neither Conservative nor Liberal I like the Tea Party, and the guy I bought my Prius from had a NRA sticker in the back window. I left it there. :usa2:

I used to be right wing - then I moved to left wing

Now, I'm planning on just moving, out of the country!

Back when I was right wing, I (probably mistakenly) thought that "conservative" meant that the government kept its nose out of peoples' business. That's why I changed to Left wing, as now it is supposed to mean keeping the government nose out of peoples' business (I'm NOT talking about "business"... I'm talking private life stuff).

I believe the U.S.A. should be a republic, not an empire.

I believe we as a country should strictly follow the basic tenets of the Constitution. (The few guys who wrote it had more common sense than all the people in Washington D.C. have today.)

I believe we have more government than we know what to do with..

I believe we have a spending problem, not a tax problem. (We won't have to wait for our children to grow up to see the problem with deficit spending - Any village idiot can see the problem today.)

P.S. I believe I forgot to take my medication today.........

I've been to Ecuador. Nice place to visit, wouldn't want live there. As crazy as the U.S. is getting, it still is a lot safer than most other countries.

It (hemp) is indeed excellent, ... especially to build and power autos with.

While I agree that 'hemp' generally refers to food/fiber strains and 'marajuana' refers to medicinal/recreational use strains of cannibus, I disagree that hemp and marijuana are similar looking but very different cousins (from a botanist perspective). Hemp only became marijuana when Randolf Hearst needed a name to villify the plant in his newspaper (see The Emperor Wears No Clothes). I believe they are one and the same plant and unfortunately the Feds also say cannabis is cannabis, whether as a food/seed crop or fiber or medicinal crop. I would love to see them differentiated. But the only real difference is the amount of seed/fiber/cannibinoid content. Just like the difference between Tommy Toes, Roma and Steak Tomatoes. All are tomatoes plants, it's just a difference in the amount of tomato.
    I know ... :focus:

I prefer the term "repatriate." ;)

I'm sure you know this, but few Americans do: When Texas was part of Mexico it was very sparsely populated, and far from the capital. Mexico invited Americans to settle in Texas, under two conditions: The immigrants would have to convert to Catholicism, and would have to swear to be loyal to Mexico as new Mexican citizens.

The U.S. government, seeing an opportunity, encouraged Americans to settle in Texas and to falsely swear loyalty to Mexico, with the express purpose of rebelling and taking Texas away from Mexico. Which they did in sufficient numbers to accomplish that objective. Texas became an independent republic for a short while, but soon joined the U.S.

It's only fair to give back what was stolen.

The global trend is for the poor to get poorer and more disenfranchised, and for more and more poor farmers to be uprooted from their traditional lands and forced into cities where they have no support structure and no sense of community.

This leads inevitably to a rise in crime, and a rise in the level of violence related to all manner of different kinds of theft, of which the "express kidnappings" are an example.

It's not a good time to be moving to the most desperately poor and corrupt nations.

There is zero tetrahydrocannabinol in hemp. They are different plants and can actually be easily distinguished, though to the untrained eye they look similar.

I've never understood why conservatives are not for conserving the environment

I guess it boils down to stereotypes. Liberals are supposed to be greens - so conservatives being opposed to all things liberal should be anti-environment ? Or is it because invariably the profit motive clashes with environment ?

Interestingly - not in my backyard - is bipartisan. I doubt any conservative wants his/her children to grow up near oil spills or coal power stations.

Depends on how far back you want to go. Shouldn't a large part of the new world go back to native peoples ?

I gotta cal bullshit when I see it... and the bolded is exactly that Bra.

You say the area belonged to Mexico... which is a fricken lie. It WAS stolen from the native peoples by the eurotrash coming here with guns and horses. Anyone that says Texas belongs to Mexicans is speaking out their rear if they believe that Mexicans have more of a right to steal the land simply because they stole it first.

Secondly... all hemp IS marijuana... while it is true sensationalism was the reason that marijuana was vilified in the press, mostly because of bigotry, the anti-drug/intoxicants use culture of the white elitists elected into the CONgress of the day, and the rise of cotton as a broadcloth fiber, saying it has zero THC is inaccurate, misinformed, and not doing anyone here any service to education. There are different varieties of hemp/cannabis with varying amounts of potency... there are NONE that do not have some THC.

Would that be the native peoples who were there when the Europeans arrived, or would that be the native peoples that those natives peoples took it from, or would it be the native peoples before them, or...?

    What eh?!

Alaska was bought from the Russians which of course was stolen from the natives.
