Just got the new 2010 Prius in Nautical Blue. I'm liking it so far. It looks a lot better than the previous generation. Seems like it's doing its job; saving gas (my Toyota MR-2 Turbo is a gas guzzler >17 MPG). What is the B on shifter for? I'm guessing straight battery. For cosmetics I will be going the VIP route.
I am also new to Prius, had mine about 5 days, B is sorta like a down shifter to let the engine slow you down.
Welcome to both of you and congratulations on your purchases. The B-mode is mainly to be used when going down long downgrades. Once your battery charge is maxed out from regen the engine runs, without fuel, to act like an air pump to help slow you down without having to use the friction brakes. If you do not use the B-mode, then you have to use your friction brakes more often when the battery charge is max.
Nice. Thank you for the information jd and dean. Wow. I just went outside to enjoy/view my new Prius when I noticed a few rock dents on my front bumper. I've been SUPER careful. I guess it is really inevitable. Anyone else have rock dents? I should of got that clear bra BEFORE.
Congrats on the new prius. You mentioned going with the VIP styling route...have you checked out HAWAIINBUILT's thread? His thread contains a great amount of information and pictures. http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...-japanese-vip-styling-my-prius-iii-build.html
Question: Is Nautical Blue a new Color? I was only aware of the 2010 coming in a 'Blue Ribbon Metallic' color. Could you please confirm, and if so, what is the color code (as you have on your new vehicle sticker).
