I read about this earlier today. This is Excellent! Is it "said and done" though? Does the President have the final say on this? I'm glad to see that offshore drilling is being greatly restricted/reduced and that oil prices are on the rise (Up to $87.50 per barrel today). I'm a proponent of higher gasoline prices in the short term, as it will keep pressure on manufacturers to keep introducing more hybrids, plug-ins, and EVs. Higher gas prices will also drive consumers towards hybrids and away from gas guzzlers. The quicker we can shift the majority of the population from gas guzzlers to hybrids, plug-ins, and EVs, the sooner we can stop sending $Billions over to foreign governments for oil.
Well, I think the Floridians will probably be on board with it. Does LA count as eastern gulf? probably not.
After the BP oil spill killed this summer's tourist season for Florida's Gulf Coast, it seems that Floridians realize that tourism means a lot more economically than pumping crude oil. It's quite the irony that you don't hear the GOP mantra Drill, Baby, Drill out of eastern Gulf Coast politicians, who are of course largely GOPers.
