My daughter recently experienced a dead battery which she was told by the technician was a result of letting her gasoline go down to one bar. The warning light had not gone on so the tank was not really close to empty.

Going down to one bar is about 2 gallons left (give or take). If it's in ready mode (running) the battery will drain down turning on the gasoline engine and charging then turning off the gasoline engine. This cycle will go until you run out of gas (in a day).

If the car is not in ready mode you will not use any gas.

Technician is full of bunk as said by everyone above.

Let me guess. The technician's name was Larry because he's "pretty smart for an imbecile".

Trickle charge the battery then use Diagnostic Mode on the MFD to check the voltages.

Most of the PCers will recommend filling up at 2 bars. IF: the car actually runs out of gas and the driver continues to drive on the HV serious problems can ensue. Best thing is to fill up early. :cheer2: There are reasons for a dead battery (12V or HV) you didn't say. One bar on the gas guage is not one of them. Is the car being repaired?
