Please edit your post to show that it was Spiderman, and NOT me, who made the irrational and silly claim that god is all-knowing.

    Thanks.

It's been a cooler summer and fall in austin this year, after record breaking brutally hot summer in 2009. Some of us still know the difference between whether and climate as well as science and belief.

Whether on not your weather this summer was cool or not, according to Chogan2's very informative series of posts over this current calendar year, it is looking like the average global temperature will be either record warm or nearly so.

    http://priuschat.com/forums/environ...our-call-2010-global-average-temperature.html

PS Why don't we just accept that Mr. Parker has God on his speed dial, while the rest of us don't have the same phone service package, and return the conversation to it's original intent that being about people who have woken up to the fact that Global warming/climate change is real and significant.

    Thank you.

Religious fundamentalism thrives when believers fail to comprehend the difference between knowledge and belief. Religious moderates understand the difference, and so are more tolerant of differing beliefs. But when people think they "know" that which can only be a matter of belief, the result is extremism and intolerance. It's relevant to this thread because the same thinking patterns that reject scientific evidence in favor of a book written two millennia ago, also lead people to reject scientific evidence in other fields, such as climate change.

This has been happening a LOT. I posted in the PriusChat Website Questions forum, though I misspelled the thread title and cannot change that.

Danny should be able to figure out what's causing the bug and fix it once we've brought it to his attention.

Just because you do believe in it doesn't mean it is true!

That is so pathetic. So people are suppose to flip flop on their principles to try to make everyone happy? People might say they want that but nobody respects that. Case in point: last election.

    Sorry Mr. Parker,

Daniel has this one about right. It is not a question of "people are suppose to flip flop on their principles to try to make everyone happy", but rather understanding that if your principles conflict with fundamental knowledge, it is time to question those "principles".

For example, if the high priest of your church decreed that the earth is flat, and that we all should worship based on that, one might pause a bit when confronted with the undeniable fact that the earth is an orb! If one of your principles is that your follow the teachings of your priest, you run into conflict.

Not unlike the effect that US Christianity has had on too many regarding global warming I might add. (See also GWB, James Watt, Mike Huckaby etc.)

On Spiderman's behalf (though he got angry the last time I defended him! :( ) I will say I think it's a software bug on the board. (Though you can prevent it if you just use the Preview button and proofread your posts before posting them.) I expect Danny to find and fix the bug.

Good point on the contradiction. I guess I considered one of the things I'd find out would be that there was nothing. So I wouldn't actually find that out, but I do believe that is the most probable option.

It's always a good idea to ensure your post has displayed as you intended. Especially when quoting a post in which someone else has been quoted - it's all too easy to attribute something to the wrong person.

Preview works, although I've found I have a minute or two after posting to do an edit without the "edited by" statement showing up at the bottom.

Not to make them happy, to avoid ideological horrors.

You know, the stuff of christian history: torture, wars, destruction of civilizations.

Either that, or all the religious zealots should go into a room, close the door, and give someone on the outside the key. Last group alive can come out, and stand accused of murder.

ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS use Preview. I actually use it several times on a long post, editing as I go. If I was running a chat board, you would not be able to post until you used Preview.

And there's nothing wrong with editing a post if you catch a mistake. The "Edited by" tag hurts nobody! A lot of members post with multiple typos, and never edit them! (And I'm not referring to Jocko or Skandar, who seem to be typing typos on purpose just to make a point. :D )
