Why did Australia get the criminals and America get the Puritans?

    Australia had first choice.

Do you understand the meaning of "non sequitur"? It means, roughly, "does not follow." A non sequitur is a statement of a premise and a conclusion, wherein the conclusion does not follow from the premise.

Your statement above is a classic non sequitur: You say that you are a better person than you were, and that therefore there must be a god. This is nonsense because the conclusion does not follow from the premise. Even if we accept the premise, it contains no reason whatsoever to jump to the conclusion.

Some people become better people over time; others become worse. Neither of these facts speaks to the question of whether or not there is a god.

What your statement does demonstrate, however, is that you are deficient in basic thinking skills, since you present such a classic non sequitur as your argument for the existence of a god. And your lack of thinking skills puts all your claims in serious doubt. Including your claim to be a better person than you were.

(This leaves aside the question of what constitutes a "better" person. Is a person "better" if he becomes more principled but also more obnoxious? Or is he "better" if he becomes less principled but also less obnoxious? Is a person "better" if he gains faith in whatever religion you believe in, but uses that faith to justify killing people? Or is a person "better" if he loses his faith, and therefore becomes more tolerant of other people?)

Crikey Pat, please keep up we been over this many times. The Holy Bible is the divinely inspired word of God. Many of the authors were inspired by visions or dreams that were than written down (often by scribes). Nothing has ever been proven factually incorrect in the Bible. In fact it is often refereed to by many mid-east archaeologist because of its accuracy. It has been the world's best seller since that metric has been kept.

Just because you don't believe in it doesn't mean that it is not true.

Actually after I woke up, this became an intriguing question. What metrics do we have as a world to judge who is a "better" person. As you pointed out everyone has a different idea of a "better" person... different principles. Therefore we do not have a single standard... or do we?

We have the common one: "Because I said so." Which also happens to be *the* main "argument" put forth for the existence of god.

    Coincidence, you say ?

In other words, your whole argument boils down to "The Bible is the Word of god because I say so."

And just because you believe it doesn't mean it is!

Excellent argument: I demonstrate that your logic is bogus, so you go to sleep. I can't really blame you. What can you do but refuse to respond when there is no response? Your entire method of arguing is to say "There's a god because I know there's a god."

Might be a good place to quote Mark Twain: "Faith is believing what you know ain't so."

Not my fault that you keep using circular reasoning, insisting you know there's a god because you know there's a god. (When any rational person knows we are speaking of BELIEFS, and that nobody can KNOW if there's a god. But you just keep repeating that you do know.)

    And you just can't spell.

By this comment, do you mean to imply that you are God?
