    Hello all,

I will be installing a Kenwood 9960 this weekend with the Metra Axxess Steering wheel adapter.

I will follow the PDF that was uploaded by a user cant seem to find the link rite now.

I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for me...

    specifically about 3 things..

    1. Placement of Bluetooth mic
    2. Placement of Voice Activation Sw
    3. Wiring the Metra Axxess module.

    Thanks,
    jay

I did a very quick and dirty install to fill in the dash from my previous stolen unit. I put the mic on top of the steering column, which worked well before. I put the ptt on the side of the steering wheel which is a little bit of a stretch, and I'm going to play around with locations. There was not a ptt button on the pioneer before it. Let me know if you find a location you like. I put the GPS antenna on top of the unit, but it seems a little slower to find satellites, so movement near the driver side tweeter may be good.

Questions since this is a new and different unit for me. On my old unit I hooked power to the camera to the acc and gnd wires. On this unit there are cam+ and cam-, are you using these. I don't have the kenwood camera, just a boyo that the thieves did not take, but cut my cable. Also did you ground your parking brake wire. I wasn't sure on this unit.

Thanks. Let me know your locations as I may move my components around. The buttons on the unit and touch screen don't operate all that well, so I will be buying one of the steering interfaces too, unless I get used to this.

I have not wired a cam yet. maybe sometime next year so cant comment on the cam wiring.

For the GPS i am going to do it as my previous cars.. under the dash to the pass side and up the A piller and towards the front windshield.

For the PTT i am thining to the right side of the cup holder where the 2nd piece comes out seemed most out of sight and easy to use.

For MIC i am thinking 2 options... in my other car I have it on the driver A piller... wife wants it in the center top by the rear view mirror so we will see how I get the wire hidden to there...

Steering wheel adapters arent in yet but they will be soon...

If you have pic's of your install please post...

    Thanks,

I'll take some pictures this weekend, when I reconnect my sub and get the camera working. For the mic, I do like the simplicity of putting it on the steering column. I think there is a European manual that tells you how to run the mic wires up to the factory spot up
    near the lights.

Hi jayl. Where did you end up placing your PTT button.

Mine system is 2 days into the install and should be completed tomorrow. The original idea was flush mounted on the cup holder trim piece, upper right, but my installer also suggested locating it just under the bridge in the same relative location. This Is out of sight and where I rest my hand while driving. Just curl my finger under to press. If location is later changed, the hole drilled would be out of sight.

This last decision and must be made by 08:00 this morning. 2 Hours

    Hey frodoz737,

    Sorry for the late response...

I did think about putting the PTT on the side of the console with a v small hole drilled... but as of now decided against it..

Currently I have the PTT free hanging coming out by the ring of the shifter... with about 2 inches of wire on the outside...

Decided to go just under the bridge as described. The switch for the CMOS-300 will be placed in the same area. Should get her back tommorrow.

I chose to go with the CMOS-200 installed in the original factory blank plate and location. PTT was installed as mentioned before. Kenwood Mic was installed in factory location. Everything works perfect and looks the way I wanted.
