Sorry pal, but you using a wrong technique. You should acclerate quickly at the right edge of the ECO bar and then glide (left middle of ECO bar) after reaching your maximum speed (legal + 10MPH in my case). I'm getting 60-70 MPG with this approach (in city driving if trip is long enough and no hills) AND not blocking the traffic (!).

Found out when using the speed control to accelerate ,the car sounds like its going full out to get to speed. The HSI indicator is all the way to full power. I've noticed that you can get to desired speed by accelerating normally and keeping the HSI out of full power(all the way to the right) by just using the accelerator. You can control your increase in speed much better(just into the power bar) and when you get to your desired speed just activate the cruise control.

During the daytime here in SoFL, it's almost impossible to have it set at anything over 72. I've invested in F1 pinnacle high performance window film and am still considering doing the windshield. It is HOTTT and humid in SoFL!!

Yesterday I took a trip with friends and said screw it, forget trying to see how high I can get the mpg, I'm gonna just drive normally in power mode. Carrying 3 extra adults and driving on the interstate at speed limit +4 with the AC cranking to keep everyone (in Florida) comfortable, my MPG actually went up! Sometimes I think I over think things.:yield:

My wife just drove about 300 miles into a 20 to 25 mph head wind at 72 mph. She got 40 mpg. My initial reaction was that the mpg was low. Upon reflection probably not bad. The headwinds are tough even for the Prius.
