Great! Completely normal, that's happened to me too during short trips. Knew I'd be saying this: Told.you.so.... :doh: You definitely need a gauge but you don't need to be a Pressure Nazi. Checking it every time the light goes on doesn't do anything. Checking it every month of the year (as one guy said) doesn't do anything either. Checking it at the start of every cold season? Now you're on to something.
So yours and Toyotas stand on this issue is, "If your driving in cold temps and you get a TPMS warning it's normal because it's cold outside." How cold are we talking? I think the coldest morning i have seen with this car is around 5 deg f. i thought you get a warning when the pressure you set your tires at drops a certin amount. So say i have 32 in my tires and they go below 27 i will get a warning. If you had 43psi in your tires and they went down to 38 you would get a warning.
Hello all, I also had my Prius rear-ended three weeks ago. Here in Australia we don't have TPMS sensor installed on the Prius. Just got it back today and spotted a few strange things; - time and date resetted - all mileage histories gone - radio station memories gone - previous NAV memories gone It has probably sufferred a HV shutdown and totally discharged? I am unsure and the dealer said they did not jump started the car either. Something to watch out for I guess... Just a little issue with the boot not being closing as securely and easily as before the accident. Will take it back to the repairer for inspection. Other than that, the car looks fantastic again!
Thanks for the info. I'll make sure that I mention many of the things brought up regarding repairs when I drop the car off for the repairs. Its good to let them know beforehand that I will be checking the car carefully when the repair is complete. Great to hear that your car looks fantastic again!
Check the pressure in your spare as well. Mine just came on as well, but the last time I aired up, it was over 100°F average, and it had dropped nearly 40°F since then. I had reset my light @ 40-42psi, thus it came on when one of the tires hit 30-32psi. Spare didn't trigger it for me, but the light went out when I refilled the 4 main tires. The HV battery has nothing to do w/ your settings - procedure requires them to disconnect the 12V battery, which would clear your settings over time.
As mentioned by HTML above the things you listed could be the result of unhooking the 12 Volt battery. I have had mine disconnected before and I think it retained some of the Nav memories, i.e. addresses and destinations, but the other things were gone just as yours were.
That could be it... they said they only serviced 1 other Prius before mine, so I guess they would have done the right thing by mine. But I think they would have done the same for more conventional cars too, disconnect the 12V... That's good to know. Driven it for a couple of days now, the fuel consumption is as per normal before the accident, so it's all good!
