Bump for reply :) A guy at a second dealership I've been emailing wants me to call him on his cell if this deal from the first dealership...I'm hoping he matches the deal with the blizzard pearl or makes his deal better

Then that's a fairly recent change, and as stated above, deals being offered may depend on the region. But that's good for you.

But giving a buyer 0% for 60 months, as opposed to say, 2-3% for the same period, is equivalent (for them) to giving the buyer "cash back", or a reduced price on the vehicle. There are many ways that a dealer can give the appearance that you are getting the best deal possible, and maybe you are...but the deal you get is usually some combination of the interest rate, term, cash down and price paid for the car.

Not saying you didn't get a great deal. I'm simply saying that car dealers have honed their sales/marketing skills to a fine art to maximize their profits either through money back offers, sales incentives, or reduced finance charges. Clearly it's a buyers market right now, so I'm sure the deals (whatever combination that might be), are the best they've been on a Prius in a very long time.

On a related note...just read this weekend that gas prices have jumped an average of 8 cents in the past week. Should that trend continue, I would expect that inventories of Prii start to decrease.

I agree you have to do the numbers yourself to see what's best for you. The dealer will always try to gets much as they can get away with.

Like in NorCal...they are doing either $1,000 down payment assistance + financing or $1,000 + $500 cash back. In SoCal they are not offering the down payment assistance. Financing is still the same though. I wonder why it's like that on the same coast. :/
