my yellow metal ramps don't work on my prius???

Yellow metal ramps? I am guessing something like:

that you drive onto? If so, then get ramps with a longer angled section so the height variance isn't as great.

 

Keep the same ramps, just use a pair of wood planks to extend them and give a shallow angle

 

+1, decrease the angle of rise,
planks, or shim the front, or go to pep boys and by some cheap shallower ramps ... mine work for my Prius and my truck, but truth be told, it's no easy feat getting a floor jack under the Prius either

 

Mine aren't yellow but the same concept. I put 2x4 pieces in front of the ramp and it's just enough to raise it up and miss the bumper. Drive the car onto the 2x4 which raises the car up then onto the ramp. I had to do this with my mustang also. BTW, same concept - you can't rent a tow dolly from any rental place because the prius is too low to put on the dolly.

 

My floor jack works just fine, no problem at all, unless you have a huge commercial one. I use it every 5000 to rotate my tires. The ramp, however is a pain....

 

My yellow metal ramps came with plastic pieces that snap into position to walk the car up the ramps gradually, if using wood secure the wood in place, it would get ugly fast if they slipped and the vehicle err, gomered.

 

Put them in front of the ramps, up against it. I used a 2x6 and a 2x4 just to make sure I had enough room to get the tires on the wood before the bumper hit the ramps. I have the smaller Rhino ramps, also.

It works great for oil changes, just enough clearance to open the splash guard cover and have the ground keep it open and not flopping around.

If 1 - 2x4 doesn't turn out to be enough, put another one in front of the first.

 

I had the problem with u-haul dollies. They were not too high but not wide enough. I FOUND AN OLD MODEL (81 INCHES ) between fenders. It has a 2 foot ramp that lowers to load and raises to haul. Many have offered to buy it but I rent it and keep it for my friends. I believe the black plastic ranps at Advance Auto would do better Don
