Reason NOT to feel bad about driving your Prius so much:
Remember that every mile you drive in your Prius is a mile NOT driven in a lower mileage car, so you are saving gas. Therefore do NOT rent another car for a trip to Yosemite, unless you plan to travel on primitive back roads requiring higher clearance/4wd.

Reason TO feel bad about driving your Prius so much:
Recent research indicates that when we human beings do a virtuous action, we give ourselves a bit more license to perform a non-virtuous action--and this extends to environmental virtue. (In the immortal words of Dave Barry, I swear I am not making this up. But I don't remember the source.) Therefore, if we are driving a really high mileage vehicle, we may actually tend to drive more, thus reducing the savings (in both cash and pollution) from the better car. If you do this, then you have permission to feel bad.
But this certainly should not lead you to drive a lower mileage vehicle to Yosemite.

I have 11k since March. I leased it at 18k/year and miles will drop over the winter. I can overpay at only $.15 mile anyway when I turn it in, assuming I do turn it in. Still undecided, I may just buy it out.

    Dont feel bad!!
I think it is foolish to buy Prius and don't drive at leat 30000 miles a year, it is not just cost efective to but light plastic car for $26000 -$33000 and drive 12000 miles.
By the way I have Prius III, and I have 32000 miles on it, purched Sept. 2009.
I chang oil and flters myself, Toyota need no P.M.

June 30th here and I have 5567 on mine...she has already been in for her first service to rotate the tires. She still looks good and just needs a quick wash, wax and vacuum inside to make her look brand new again. I drive her as much as possible because it is cheaper to drive than the truck.

    You guys are slackers:)
My gen 3 is 3 weeks old and has 3K plus miles. I drive 1 K per week!!

    That's why I have a Prius.

This week it is Astoria to Boise, Boise to Spokane, Spokane to Seattle, Seattle back to Astoria, you do the math

When I bought my Gen 2 in 07 I traded in my 1998 Lexus GS 300. The difference in gasoline cost basically made the Prius "free"

The car payment was less than the difference in the fuel cost.

I use my Prius for business, at standard mileage rates it's easy to drive a fully loaded Prius and come out way ahead.
