Have you ever had your car spat upon??

That is pretty darn sad. I too suspect the Prius hate. Just do a search on Facebook with "Prius Hate". Glad they didn't so something more damaging.

 

In the 7 months I have had my Prius, I have been victimized twice by pure Prius hate. Note that I live in a heavily republican, heavily military, and heavily crazy-nice person-backwards town.

Somebody wrote in the dirt on my hatch "F*** You" the second week I had the car. Then in July some random a*hole decided to kick my passenger door. I was in the vehicle when he did it, and it was on prupose.

I have also had 3 of my tire valve stems stolen but that could be "normal" car hate. I have noticed a very deep new scratch on the hatch by the "hyrbid synergy drive" badge that looks too meticulous to be random, but I am hoping it was...

People are just jerks. And I live in a good neighbourhood too.

 

Come on, if you're a Psych Professor do you really have to ask Who would do something like that???? You should be able to profile who, and have a good grasp of why....

Too bad you didn't get a Prius V, I hear they have a spit repelent coating on the side windows.

Anyway, once we get The Harmony between Man, Nature and Machine down...we can go back and work on the more vital harmony between simply Man and Man....

That's too bad, but don't let it bother you too much. My philosophy has always been as long as they aren't spitting on you? You're ahead of the game.

In fear of hyjacking this thread, I'm giving serious consideration to purchasing a new Prius. I am Republican and never knew of this so called Prius hate until I began to research online. I sure hope this Prius Chat Forum isn't going to be another political warfare zone.

Strange to read this from my side of the pond.

Over here it's drivers of large SUVs - Range Rovers, Porsche Cayennes etc that are more likely to receive such anti social behaviour, especially in cities.

 

That was happening here in the US too several years ago.

Don't worry about political warfare, but just so you know, I do have video footage of Rush Limbaugh, Bush Sr. and Jr. and Dick Cheney heading up a group of white hooded wall street cronies and oil moguls, burning cross's, mowing down vegetable gardens and spitting on Prius's.:eyebrows:

Someone keyed the passenger side hatch, nice, long and wavy, when parked at a JFK airport short-term parking lot. Could have been anyone - new car envy, a hater, a child...

 

I should note and make any apologize for anyone whom takes offense to my last post. I was just making a joke, one in poor taste perhaps, but joking just the same.

 

I stopped at a red light with nobody behind me. At the same moment the light turned green I stepped on the gas and heard a huge long horn beeping from behind. Then a blur of black rusty Ford minivan swerved around me and the middle finger almost sholved in my face. He blew black huge smoke while swinging back to cut me off and sped away.

I'm an Asian behind a steering wheel (have you ever heard of the "joke": "If you want to make a Chinese blind, simply put a windshield before him"?), and still never seen that before I drove the Prius. If that's not Prius hate I don't know what it is.

I hate being hated for the car I drive.

 

I will say however, politics in all, have become one big joke. All parties need to set aside their differences and fix this country.

In regards to the type of people that would spit on your Prius for some form of hate statement, I don't consider them worthy of being human. We all have the right to be who we are with out ridicule.

 

I have had cars spat on, but not the Prius.
I have also had cars egged, but again not the Prius.

 

I knew it was a joke and took it as such. In fact I replied with an attempt at levity. All in good fun.

As an Engineer, I dont care what label the Prius gets. I appreciate great engineering and design.

There are conservatives who truly believe in their idiology with "reason"; and then there are "conservatives" whose real idiology is to conserve their status and power, and like to bash anything else.

Just like there are priests with genuine faith and then there are pervert child-abusing priests.

I don't think all conservatives are Prius haters; but I do think all Prius haters are (the second kind of) "conservatives", because they feel challenged by the "liberal" Prius.

This is not a debate about political ideologies. This is a debate about idiots-crazies.

 

I wont disagree but as mentioned earlier in this thread, a few years ago when it was the SUVs being burned in the streets, most likely it was extremists from the left. No one smells like roses.

Someone once said 1% of the population are whack-jobs......In a country of 300+ million, thats alot of whack-jobs out there!
