Yup, We call her Pearl, cause she is, and her feminine (GPS) voice confirms it.. And also, it's her name, I saw it on the brochure... what's that? Oh, the color is Pearl? Ahh... Oh Well. Pearl it is.
Well since my Prius is futuristic, stuffed with software and boots up, I named it "TRON". Also one of my favorite old Sci-Fi movies. I just ordered a license plate to that name after finding out it was available. It was almost "Gigawat" from, guess the movie...."What the hell is a gigawatt?!!"
Mine is Pearl, too. Not very original, since she's the third one in this thread. But my name is John, which is also pretty common. So she can't complain.
If you do not wish to discuss this topic, then do not post in this thread. Pretty simple, really. Basic discussion board netiquette.
yanno they are coming out with a remake of Tron. Over at CGTalk (computer graphics forum) there is a thread about it with links to the early trailer. www.cgtalk.com peace, bob
I have always named my cars...I am glad this thread was opened so that I could see that others share my disorder. I now know that I am not alone in this world and I can finally sleep. I have cancelled my therapy and I no longer need pills...This thread probably saved my life...
Although my Prius doesn't have a name, I do have one for the lady that is stuck inside the magical box attached to by dash that tells me where to go...... Her name is " _____ Betty" You know her first name.
Enya. My wife named it while we were test driving...She was obviously thinking of the singer/group (is Enya a person or a group?...I don't even know.) but I'm not sure what that had to do with the car. I later explained that naming the car before we've bought it takes away some bargaining power when it comes to price negotiation....
I call mine Birdie after Lady Bird Johnson: "Throughout her life, she was an advocate for beautification of the nation's cities and highways and conservation of natural resources and made that her major initiative as First Lady." (quote from wikipedia)
I call mine Bunster or Little Bunster sometimes which stands for Bunny or something like that. Seems to fit cause it's quiet and docile.
We are now a 2 Prius family! My first, 2004 GenII Pkg 7 in Millenium Silver is Silver Bullet, of course! She now belongs to my hubby. As I now drive a "new to me" 2009 GenII w/Leather, Navigation, Bluetooth in Driftwood Pearl....she is my Lil' Dustbunny! =o)
We don't really name our vehicles but the Prius is often referred to as "The Prebot". Our other car is a 06 Saturn Ion now known as "The gas guzzler".
We'll be looking forward to more of your great contributions to future discussion. I think you meant the 1 to be an exclamation. One more exclamation and it would have been incorrect usage anyway. My wife and I decided to name ours after my mother's middle name, Anne. After she died of liver cancer we were left a small amount from a couple of CDs. We decided to shop smart and pay cash. After 12 years of marriage we have a car that has A/C.
