Hi all, had good fun trying to (unsuccessfully) locate any wire in a harness in the engine compartment that would give me the required engine ignition dependent 12V for my FLIR camera... I stopped trying to find one after I had the lower left harness unplugged from the fuse box and turned the car on only to get into a seemingly unrecoverable "P Lock Malfunction... blah blah" message on the system display! Apparently, keeping the power button pressed for 10 seconds or more won't shut down the car any more in Gen III? I tried all sorts of things, and finally after about 5 times trying to turn it off and back on (after having everything plugged back in where it needs to be) it was working again. Phew... Suppose that's a post for posteriority's sake... if you run into the same problem, engage parking brake, step on normal brake, start car, stop car, and start car again. That solved it for me. - B
Well, I'm glad you gave up before you triggered the air bags By the way, the "convenience outlet" (ex-cigarette lighter) goes on and off with the power switch.
Not quite. It's accessory. Yes, it does respond with the "ready" state, but you can also turn it on with one press without the brake applied. Useful if you want to try to drain the 12V battery with your toys.
