I would take this post more seriously if he didn't compare a Prius II to an Audi. Not safe to drive after 60mph? Learn to drive. Everyone here who drives it doesn't find a problem. If you wanted a luxury feel to the drive, then you should've bought a lexus. Quit your whining like a baby. What was the point of you going on here and telling everyone what you hate about your car? WHO CARES? don't like it? Sell it. Prius has a better resale value than any Audi out there. Also Toyota constantly has higher reliability scores than any Audi out there, and definitely any VW out there. Compare apples to apples next time...idiot. There doesn't seem to be anything you like about the car... Why'd you buy it? Did you test drive the car at all or did you just grab it on ebay? If you didn't like the cheap look or any of it, why'd you buy it?

Yeah i just bought a brand new hyundai accent today guys. Man its so garbage inside. No radio, no power windows, just cheap and terrible. My old Mercedes E350 had leather, a nice interior, and power windows....

If you want your audi back, feel free to go back to 25mpg on premium gas. Nobody is stopping you.

Then why does it have such high initial quality and such high recurring purchase loyalty, that is people trading their Prius in on another Prius.

We get that the Prius is not right for you, but it obviously is attractive and enjoyed by a lot of people.

Actually I know personally a LOT of people who have Priuses, and I do not know one person who is not very happy with their Prius. Again...look at the JD Power figures...very high and that is real world data.

I also, from a love of cars, like starting up conversations with people at gas stations about their cars, I often ask "How do you like your *blank*". When asking Prius owners I have never one time gotten a negative response. I have for other car models.

Like I've said many times, its not my kind of car but lots of people, including my wife, love their Priuses. My wife does not want to drive anything but her Prius.

So now people don't care about handling, but your whole point originally was about handling?

Its an economy car...sit in a Corolla, Civic, Yaris, something else comparable and tell me the interior plastics are better. Its an expensive economy car, but its still an economy car.

Is that how Audi got into trouble with unintended acceleration issues in the 80s? Or was it that people were stupid?

If you were just saying you didn't like the car and it wasn't for you, thats one thing. However you're saying its a bad car and that nobody likes it, and not only is that not true but you don't have anything other than your own single minded arrogance to back that statement up.

You guys are missing the one thing. He probably can't get rid of the Prius because whined to Daddy that he "Waaaaaaaants it now!" and daddy just won't let him drive his Audi anymore. He's stuck with it until he becomes a grown up and can buy what he wants on his own.

For those who are interested, here is a link to the 2009 JD Power Vehicle Dependability Study:

    http://www.jdpower.com/autos/articles/2009-Vehicle-Dependability-Study-Results/page-2

    Highlights:

    #1 compact car? Toyota Prius

I know you don't like surveys, but your beloved Audi A6 won the #1 Midsized luxury car segment beating out my ES350...so I'll be interested to see your response to this study.

Let's cut to the chase and save the embarrassment. Get an alignment and report back if your experience with the Prius changes or not.

I think a lot of nitpicking on the Prius was grown from the bad alignment.

He's not going to do that, and even if he did he's not going to admit to us that the issue is better.

"To me a II is classified as a cheap junk which is what you bought."

I disagree with this statement and realize it is also just an opinion. My Gen.III model 2 has been a great little car and deserves my praise.

I'm really suprised this thread has gone on this long. It is justaguy's opinion, its strange that the prius's honor seems to have been defamed:rolleyes:

The priorities of people that answer surveys in CR are different than the priorities of the OP. They are different than mine also. From the Gen II prius though we can assume a high reliability of our Gen IIIs. Some people have rattles and some don't, mine had a few rattles in cold weather that went away.

There is choice 4, which is modify your car a little so that you like it more. I think that was some of our first suggestions. The easy things are changing the wheels and tires out (my new wheels and tires cost less than $1300) then get it aligned, buy a wrap for the steering wheel so you don't feel the texture.

I agree here. For those of us coming from performance/luxury cars the warts on the V are pretty much the warts on the II. Why did I buy a II instead of a V? First of all it was a long wait here and no discounts. I have a feeling I'll buy an old 911 to satisfy the other side of the driving personality. I prefer cloth seats to bad leather. I don't want to insult the leather people here, but the quality is not there. Even in the Hs250 you need to do a $5000 upgrade to get the quality of leather I had in my lexus gs400. The nav really did not satisfy. The cheap plastics are still there, the rolly suspension, the lack of power. But it does a few things much better than my totaled Lexus. It is great in snarled city traffic jams blowing cold ac with the engine off. It is easier to park, and I don't worry as much about whree I park since its a less expensive car. It gets great gas milage about twice as many mpg as the refined v8. I don't worry as much about having my seats covered when we get in all sandy from volleyball or soaked from the lake. I can happily throw two bikes in the hatchback with a cooler on the back seat floor. Its a compromise, but the II seemed like a better compromise than the V. I have spent a little over $3K to make it more mine with a better headunit amp speakers tint wheels and tires.

Your post is mostly all fail. I don't mean this to be dismissive of somebody with criticisms of the car but you're comparing its driving feel to an Audi, which is fail. That seems your main criticism, other than a few other bits like unintended acceleration (which you didn't have, BTW). Of course a 22.5K MSRP has a cheaper interior feel and a lower quality feeling drive to an Audi.

This reminds me, I've been meaning to go to the Honda Civic forums and complain about how my LX is so much crap at towing a trailer compared to my Chevy Tahoe and how it's not as good at carrying large loads from the store.

FWIW I have 9900 miles on my car now and the only regret I've had is not yet making the dealership take out that God-awful devil-worshiping beep when it goes into reverse.

If you read the forum and following posts, I was also comparing it to non hybrid cars actually. As i mentioned in other posts, i drove an old honda crv and it had better handling, braking, and a smoother acceleration. Hell i've driven a chevy cavalier, and i preferred the acceleration and braking by them.

Whats wrong with people who can't accept it that I feel that the car shakes when it goes over 70-80 in the freeway?

Why do I see every other Prius shake when they drive on the next lane to me at high speeds? I guess every Prius has alignment problems then or maybe its suspension? I am sure mine does not have suspension so its probably part of the reason the car shakes at hi speeds, even at the freeway. I feel like it drives like a leaf and shakes when i drive fast. It is a little shake but very visible and u can feel it. I'm willing to bet anyone that alignment is fine. The power mode is adequate in the city. (most of the time). When i was in SF, going up steep hills, you can hear PWR mode acceleration STRUGGLE and my friend was like "whats that sound". And once you hit the freeway, you can hear it struggle for acceleration which is another main issue. Plus i use premium gas, it gives a better acceleration than lower tier gas, but i'm still not satisfied.

Will i sell this car? Yes I will. As i mentioned before i can live with 20 mpg less car, because the trade off of driving a high performance car is worth every penny. I would trade this car for a honda crv too or any normal car. Any one interested in a TINTED 5k Prius 10 can PM me. How much do you think i can get for a Prius 10? I was thinking of selling it in a few months, but if anyones interested here, I could deal it to you. Is carmax the way to go to sell Prius or online ads? But most likely i'd sell it in a few months.

It doesn't; maybe your tires are imbalanced.
Now, now, I think you're telling porky pies. There's no way you can tell a car shaking at speed unless the thing is shaking like MAD or you have the keenest sense of sight ever, and I mean ever.
I doubt that, I think you're flushing your money. I agree it's wicked loud when floored, sounds like it wants to die. I can forgive it personally because I bought, and got, a car intended 100% to be a utilitarian people mover. It never pretended, nor can deliver, anything above that. I went into this from a car with a V6 and more than 3 seconds quicker to 60 but never had any illusions about what the Prius was.
