I'm saying if they moved the Prius plant from japan to mexico and paid them 3$ an hour it would be enuff to make me not want it. I'm not saying boycot Ford They still pay some people good wages. I'm saying boycot them being sleezy with the low wages in mexico. They could pay them 7$ an hour to make the car and still make a good profit, But they want billions in profit.

I'm trying to say that maybe we should open the door on the cars and look at the sticker to see where it was made. Alot of Toyota's, Gm, Ford, ect ect are made in the US?Canada for fair wages. If i/or we had a stong enuff voice maybe They would pay fair wages. just a dream i guess, but I hate the idea of paying very low wages so the top people in a company can make billions, and i for one am tired of it.

I agree with paying them a living wage, but don't look too close to that prius you are driving. Some of the subcontrators producing the parts are paying guest workers under $3/hr in Japan.

The Toyota You Don't Know - The National Labor Committee.

The prius will expand manufacturing in thailand instead of mississippi. Thailand's average wages are lower than mexico, though I don't know what toyota, nissan, or ford are paying. The union jobs for producing trucks corlola's in nummi california
have/are moving to texas and mississipi and often those workers will be earning half of what the layed off workers were earning.

You need to remember that Ford GM and chrysler have never been able to make a fiesta sized car profitably in the US. Toyota now says they can not profitable produce the yaris or corola in japan for export, even using guest and temporary workers for many of the parts and assembly.

ford has a better reputation, goodair. you should check JD power's initial quality awards for 2010. Tell me where Toyota is and tell me where Ford is. Ford's cars have been innovative, powerful, and have great quality these days.

Also, I'm not sure I understand the comparison between a fiesta and a Prius. They serve two different markets, with both having their pros and cons.

The Fiesta has been lauded for having a very good suspension, touting an interior with better quality than its competitors (Prius not being a competitor), german engineered, and has been a top seller in Europe since 2008. Ford sync IS a great system for a factory system, and I'm glad they brought the Fiesta over to the States.

I'm willing to bet that someone looking into a Fiesta knows about its fun spirited behavior and will probably forgo the automatic in favor of the manual. In which case you're looking at a larger price differential, as well as features that aren't found in the Prius.

In my honest opinion, two different markets.

I just checked JD, Lexus (JDM Toyotas) is right above Ford. Also, I was looking at the "Award Recipients: 2010 Initial Quality Study" on JD,,,,not too many Fords either,,,mostly Toyota,,,I don't how they got so high for 2010... I still disagree with Ford making a better product than Toyota, but do understand your point.

The OP really is doing a disservice to FORD, shame on you.

The Fiesta 4 door Hatchback starts at only $16,865, the sedan is even lower.

    Build and Price

The Prius II starts at $23,560, which is $6695 higher, NOT $1095.

Ford fanboy? I'll forget the fact that Henry Ford was anti-semetic and caused the great depression. Ford makes garbage cars. "Buy American" What buy American? 3/4ths of Fords are made in Canada or Mexico. Their business model was also a joke. I mean, Mercury? Wonder what happened to that.

Their Flagship car, the Ford Tarus, will forever be known as a rental car. I would rather push a 1980 corolla than drive a ford. At least there are 1980 Toyotas on the road. Wonder how many old reliable ford models are roaming about? Oh yeah thats what i thought. Their Muscle Car? The Ford Mustang?? Until Recently, it was powered by a 3.8 Liter V6 Engine with an impressive 210 Horsepower. Meanwhile Toyota's 2.5 Liter V6 powering the Lexus IS 250 gets 205 horsepower. Or you can opt for the pathetic GT model that gets a 4.6 Liter V8 providing a whopping 300 horsepower! Meanwhile, Nissan's 3.7 Liter V6 gets 328 horsepower in the 370Z and the Infiniti G37. I could go on.

Prius > Fiesta. Anyone who even tries to debate that seriously needs to get their IQ retested and see if they qualify for disability checks from Medicaid.

One good year doesn't mean much. Toyota has dominated the market in terms of JD power Quality for many years. And on the JD power Ratings, Ford only beats toyota by one star in 2 categories. to compare apples to apples. And Lexus has 5 stars across the board, versus Lincoln, which doesn't.

If you read the post you would see I was comparing the sticker price on a Fiesta at the local Ford dealer agains the sticker price of a Prius at the local Toyota dealer. That is where I got the price difference I didn't make it up just for something to say.

But you need to do some homework to make sure the comparison is fair, not just report something you saw.

    I can say a Prius V ($36,648) cost more than a Lexus IS250 ($34,190) by $2450. Is that fair?

Well it's just that TMS has aggressively priced the Prius and the Fiesta is priced well for its class.

Up here, there's a $6k difference btwn a loaded Fiesta SES Hatchback vs. a base Prius

There are people that do care, and, gasp, it's more important than fuel economy.
For most people, a car is something they have to live with everyday. If something, ex uncomfortable seats, mind-numbing ride, about an otherwise superior vehicle would make it a chore to drive for a person, then they shouldn't get it.

We probably have the new Insight to thank for Prius prices.

It's good that the Prius works for you. Unfortunately, everyone else is not you (something people tend to forget on the Internets). Also, my "warranty" has proven to be effectively useless (in my experience) as the dealers seem to find me at fault for any kind of issue (assuming they even bother to look).

In other news, the Lamborghini Gallardo is $199,000 more expensive than the base Prius.

That's probably true. Too bad it's not the case up here. Honda Canada priced the Insight at $23,900 for the LX (same as yours but with CC) and the EX (equivalent to your EX-L) is $27,500 which (most likely NOT coincidentally) the same as the base Prius at launch. The 2010 Prius has since gone upj to $27,800 (very similar to your II).

If you think the Insight won't sell in the U.S., you can be sure as heck, it's not doing as well with the near $24k base price in Canada (for comparison, the Camry LE starts at $25k, a loaded Civic EX-L is $24k.)
