    Paul,

You keep mentioning you had to 'negotiate hard' on top of the USAA price you got. What exactly did you negotiate? Did you get lower than the USAA quoted price? Extra options?

I just sent you a PM... :) I did get a bit more off the original quote and they threw in the Floor Mat Package...

I'm ready to pull the trigger. I want a new 2010 IV (w/sunroof) and will be buying. I have been reading all posts for the last few months and know I live in the toughest Prius market. The best firm offer I currently have is $28,850 (plus tax & license) in SF. I have emailed 3 local dealers in SoCal with this price and not one has even responded with a counter. I have the time and am willing to travel if the price justifies it. Feedback/advice/suggestions regarding the price, recent buying of the IV (sunroof) and best net price (car cost vs. travel cost) is greatly appreciated!

Also, specific dealers/contacts with your great IV prices would also be of great help. Use PM if you like...

The mistake I made is I tried to do the whole thing in 2 days. Some dealers take 2 days to get back to you. I think you should give yourself 1-2 weeks and it never hurts to email other dealers with quoted prices. Things like $3350 below invoice mean nothing if you don't know the model and options. Cash or credit matters too. The one a few posts back went for $23898 in California OTD after all fees. I bought mine for $24,699 considering the paint (blizzard) and mats (I wonder if I really need them, seem they will just add weight and risk accidents) I might be $600 over that offer. I see new priuses everywhere I go, I think they are selling well. I haven't had a car in 5 years. So I had to buy insurance at the dealer, online from esurance. The quote was $6XX for 6 months, but I had an obscure hit-and-run accident for $850, the accident showed up on my record and bought 6 months of insurance for $900. Is there an insurance thread?

That would be me, Prius III w/Nav in Blizzard Pearl, but it was also in Atlanta, not L.A. Obviously a huge difference in pricing between the different coasts. There was only a $3400 difference between the Prius and my trade, so I put it on my credit card (so I could get the points).

Contact one of the auto buying services like AutoNation, Zag or Costco and see if they do any better for you. The market really determines the price, and apparently they are in much bigger demand in CA.

As an aside, I spoke with the Customer Relations guy at the dealership I purchased from and he told me they have sold and shipped 4 Prius' out of state in the last 2 weeks! Not sure if I had anything to do with that, but if my posts saved some folks here some money, then it was worth posting! I hope I have helped others!

Visited four dealers in Las Vegas today. Here are the details of the dealer I decided to go with...
Prius III - base model (no nav, no solar package, no options)
Winter gray metallic/ misty gray interior, odometer: 11. Selling price was $23,049. Also took advantage of the 0% APR for 60 months.

I have a 2010 Prius III in Blizzard Pearl. In July 2010 I paid $23,500 (total price, out the door).

Included was $300 tax (South Carolina caps sales tax on cars) and $25 tag/title fee.

Options (in addition to blizzard pearl paint) are: floor mats, window tinting, rear bumper guard, and pin-striping. I also got the 2 yr/25k free servicing.

After the sale, the dealer disabled the reverse beep and seat-belt beep at no cost to me (after some argument).

This is about $500 less than edmunds.com indicated I should have expected to pay, and I got top-dollar on my 2003 Honda Civic trade-in.

Bought my prius IV on monday --- msrp 27560 with mats only. Paid 25178 in sw illinois. Got the deal through truecar and it was solid with no extras but 150 doc fee and new plate. Had to work to get 25k for my 09 murano which I tired of so hardly any sales tax. They aren't selling well here. The lots are full. Very happy so far.

just curious, has anyone bought a V w/AY lately? i got mine when they were in high demand (August 2009, so no incentives when I got it), and i'm just wondering how much i could have saved. but i am still glad that i got my Prius when i did.

Are you sure you want to know how much you would have saved if you had bought now ? Go to truecar and plug in the numbers. My advice is to enjoy your prius and fret not over what might have been.

There's no incentive $750 cash to dealer for the V in CA. Dealers don't discount V w/ATP all that much. You can get one close to invoice if you try hard. It's not like the II or the III where dealers sell thousands below invoice. Also the II has 750-1000 incentive in some areas which help bring the price below invoice. I paid 34900 OTD My tax rate is 8.25%

I have to say that there is dealer cashback to be had on the 2010 Prius V

Just bought a used 2010 Prius III for $22,500 final price (After 1500 in tax plus title, tag, and registration). Was the base model plus some extra mats and the SET "wrap" coverage for 100k miles/7 years. Hope it was a good deal, been looking for ~2 weeks!

OMG I know Canadian prices for any car are high(or anything for that matter) I traded a 2008 base w/56,000 for 12,500 (they sold it a week later was listed at 13,500) I bought 2010 Gen III solar moonroof w/nav system, etc. List was 28,000 and I paid 23,000. By the way, 23,000 was same amt. I paid for my 2008 base model. I probably should have been given more than 12,500 for my 2008 although KBB and Edmunds said excellent book value was 12,000

    Dear All,

I'm a new Prius-er here at Dallas, and want to share the info. on my lease. I just signed a Prius 2010 Gen III, III model with following:

    Window Tint,
    Paint film protection package,
    Mat,
    Cargo Net,
    Bumper thing,
    Wheel Locker,
    ODO: 12 miles,
    Gold exterior/Bisque interior,

    36 month lease,
    $15,950 residual,
    $246.01 / month for next 35 months,
$500 due at signing ($253.99 toward down payment, and $246.01 as a first month payment),

I am not sure whether it was a good deal or not, but it is just what I signed on. Hope it gives you guys some guide or comparability.

    Best,

BTW, what I need most now for this new exciting animal?

I'm here in San Jose, looking to get a Prius soon.

Got this quote for a 3 year 36 lease, what do you guys think it is for the Type 3 with Solar.

    284 a month, 750 Drive off, Residual 16921.

    Can i get it cheaper?

Well, if everything is rolled in to the payment, I'd think that it is not that bad deal in CA. The Solar extra option costs about $3,800 here in TX. Not bad, if you want that option.
