just picked up used II for $18881 (before tt&L), 11K miles in great shape. this is my 3rd Prius...2006, 2008, 2010 and yes its SILVER again (only because they didn't have a blizzard pearl)
Picking up my 2010 IV tomorrow. Traded in an 09 murano even up. The dealer closest to me lamented that there was no mark-up in the prius --- too bad so sad. Went on line at truecar and found one 20 miles away--- msrp 27508 -- buy for 25051. Got two free oil changes beyond the first 2 year maintenance package. Will opt for the .9% for 60 months which adds 750 and drive away with nothing down. My interest in the prius was primarily the ride and roomy hatchback style. Americans don't like hatchbacks so there are few compacts that interested me and this was the perfect size. The leather seats are great and I won't have to lift the golfclubs into a trunk. The murano was nice but I've become more comfortable in a smaller vehicle. The prius is perfect. The great mpg is a bonus for sure but the car sold itself as is. Had they had it with a conventional drivetrain for 5k less may have opted for that one. Nothing else like it on the market. Leased an 08 and have to admit watching the mpg meter hovering around 45 is definitely entertaining.
Sorry that was a typo, $23,910 OTD, seems all of the dealers around the bay were selling the Prius II for $21,440-$21,450 this weekend because thats what the quotes I was getting.
Prius II - 21,713.00 - Only option were the mats. Tax 1,519.91 NJ Tire Fee 7.50 NJ Online Fee 8.00 MV Fee 319.00 Doc Fee 299.00 OTD Total 23,866.41
Hahahahaa. I hope you laughed in his face when he said that. ALL new cars have markup and usually a lot more than what the average consumer believes.
I would have laughed except he was crying in his hanky when lamenting they make no money on the prius. So sad.
Here is my lease offer on a blizzard white Prius II w/ only mats as option. Is this a good deal or no? Price: 21,738 term: 36 residual: 14,820 mi. per year: 15k acq fee: 650 Gov fee: $68 taxes: $777 doc fee: $120 Zero down Initial payment: $261 35 mo. thereafter $261 All taxes and fees rolled in. Thanks
With no money down, that sounds about right. Lease payments here are advertised at $199, but they want $2160 at signing, and I'm sure that $199 does not include taxes and doc fees!
White V with ATP for $31200 cap cost plus $650 bank fee and a few $100 for title etc. 3 year 15K mi lease for $937 drive offs and $394.85 per month including tax, tier 1+. .00001 money factor. Los Angeles.
The salesperson at my local dealer makes minimum of $100 regardless of how little the car is sold for. Of course they make more if the car is sold at a price closer to MSRP.
I just picked up a Blizzard Pearl III with mats and 0% 36 month financing for $23,164. Exactly $500 under invoice. I used overstock.com to find a good price in my area on the exact specs I wanted. Then I sent out a mass email to all the dealers in my area to give me their rock bottom price based on what I wanted. I sent that email yesterday and bought the car today. I probably could have gotten a slightly better deal if I spent some more time at it but I'm very happy with my purchase and my new Prius
Paul you said it sounds "about right" but you didn't say if you thought it was a good deal. About right for advertised pricing or is it a good deal?
Not real sure to be honest with you... It appears to be the same deal they are offereing where you're at, they just reduced the amount due at signing and spread it over the length of the lease, . Another factor is the residual, a lower residual at the end of the lease is better, especially if you decide to purchase the vehicle at the end of the lease. I purchased our Prius and was able to get an awesome deal ($3350 below Invoice). This was going through USAA and some hard negotiations at 7:00 pm on the 31st of July! From what I've seen and heard, the Atlanta area has about the best deals going in the Nation for a purchase of a new Prius. We had no intention to lease, so I didn't really shop the lease portion of the process. Again, the $199 was advertised on the Toyota Website for the Atlanta area, I'm sure by the actual "price" of the vehicle could be negotiated lower, which in-turn would lower your lease payment. The Rep I used through AutoNation was extremely helpful, he may be able to help answer your lease questions. I listed his contact info in a previous post, or PM me if you want it again...
guys. First post here! I'm looking to replace my '04 Nissan Sentra with a 2010 Prius (II or III) in the near future. When would you say is the best time to purchase at a discounted price during the next several months? I was thinking about the end of September due to the typical end-of-quarter dealer incentives. However, I also seem to remember reading something about Toyota investing more than usual in customer incentives for the upcoming fourth quarter, due to recessed sales figures and the need to usher in the 2011 models. Anyone care to share their insight? Thanks!
There are some great deals available right now, just got ours on 31 July for well below Invoice. I do recommend waiting until the last day of the month and negotiate hard, dragging it until just before closing time! If you're persistant you'll wear them down and come out on top. One thing to keep in mind with waiting past Sept, the available 2010's will dwindle (2011's are already on the lots here), so selection of favorite colors/options could be limited. If this doesn't matter then the longer you wait the better the deals may become...
I have found it's the availability of interior colors that is dwindling faster, at least with the exterior colors I like. Dark grey is the most popular and the lighter grey is the least popular it looks like. Also dealers are less likely to make the best deal on a car they need to get from another dealer, so you are better off finding what you want on someone's lot and working to get that vehicle.
A guy in another thread claims to have leased (more than one) for $199 per month with nothing out of pocket, everything rolled in including tax. That deal doesn't seem to be happening anywhere else in the country that I have seen. Is it a fluke? Dealer mistake? Possibly the OP not really knowing all the details? I sure don't want to waste time chasing something that was just an anomoly.
Buying 4 vehicles will certainly give you some buying power! Maybe they were able to work a special deal due to the number of vehicles he purchased. I saw that thread, and it appeared these were advertised deals, i.e. 4 available at this price, and he took what they offered. If color and options don't matter, this is a good way to get a good deal, but spending that kind of money, I like to be able to at least get the color/options I want... I did buy a Nissan Altima on one of these loss leader deals years ago, it was an awesome deal, and a great car, but had it not been for the fact they advertised "One at this price", I would have opted for a different color and option package. Sometime deals have concessions, but if the bottom line outweighs wants and desires, they are good deals...
