Has anyone heard anything regarding pricing on the 2011 Lexus CT200h? Even though I just got the 2010 IV, I will be trading it in on this Lexus when it comes to the US. The Lexus sites shows that it will beasically be a re-skinned Prius based on the technical specs. I will have to test drive it to make sure it doesn't have the road noise issues of the Prius. That will be worth the price of admission. How much dough will I have to come up with, though? In case there is doubt, it is coming to the US as a 2011 model.

I wonder if it uses premium gas, like the regular Lexus. Imagine a hybrid that requires premium gas. Very funny.

My guess is most of that 5" will be rear legroom and cargo room. Front legroom should be ok.

Hopefully another addition will be the standard power seats and power tilt/telescopic steering wheel of other Lexus models. That would be perfect for the Prius. :)

Car and Driver says the base price is expected to come in at $27,000. If that's the case, I know what my next car is going to be. This is a cool car!

I was looking through some preliminary specs and, while Dynamic Radar Cruise Control will be available, I saw no mention of:

    1. Lane Keep Assist (LKA)
    2. Solar sunroof (just saw 'moonroof' available)

I would have thought Toyota would have offered those two options, if not together, than at least separately (like on the 3G Prius V).The lack of either of those top-tier options on a Lexus (let alone both together) is a deal-killer, for me.

It's a shame because, otherwise, it seems like a really nice car.

LKA isn't offered until you move up to the GS or RX IIRC so LKA is quite unique for now (and on the Prius, you guys are the only ppl in the WORLD to get LKA on a Prius).

Edmunds shows the car with an MSRP of $28.8k...Seems about right as any higher and it'll compete with the HS 250h. Whats the projected mileage supposed to be? I hear its going to beat our Gen IIIs 50mpg.

I wonder how they'll do that. Will the CT200h have a lithium battery? Overall, the CT200h sounds like it will undoubtedly be configured more to the luxury/sporting side of performance, with fuel mileage, while being important, not being a paramount consideration (as it is with the Prius).

The only way I see it competing with the Prius in terms of fuel economy is if its shape is more aerodynamic or it is lighter. Both of which I doubt. The Lexus is sportier looking, not 100% built for aero effects like our Prii. Also Lexus adds a lot of additional sound deadening materials and little luxury bits. Probably more metal/wood than plastic as well. Maybe they took a hint from the LFA and made it all carbon fiber? :p No doubt it will get good mileage, but I would speculate in the mid 40's when driven economically.

In terms of dollar value, a 2010 Prius V will be better than the base or even mid-level trim CT200h, I garuantee you. When you buy a Lexus, you're buying class, not value. Don't get me wrong though I love Lexus, particularly the IS and GS line. These are performance cars that Toyota USA unfortunately has forgotten completely about.

Agreed. Lexus is marketing the CT as a hybrid with a hint of performance. If you watch the video on their website, they refer to it as the "darker side" of a hybrid (not sure if that's meant to be a Darth Vader analogy or what VW did with their "fast" marketing campaign). Lexus has normally marketed their hybrids as a performance enhancement rather than pure fuel efficiency (other than the HS). Unless they've made some secret battery technology enhancement or intend to use exotic lightweight materials, I don't think it'll get as great gas mileage as the Prius.
However, I'll still seriously think about trading up though when it's released. I'm willing to trade off some MPG figures for a bit of performance and Lexus luxury.

CT200h will have Lateral Performance Dampers in the front and rears. This setup was used in WRX STi S204 special edition. This is very exciting to have near 50 MPG hybrid with ride comfort AND extreme handling.

Lexus engineers are paying very close attention to NVH. It surely will have definite advantage over Prius V.

A hint of it's fuel efficiency is the CO2 output from the European model.

    CT200h: 95 g/km
    Prius: 89 g/km
    Auris HSD: 89 g/km
    PHV Prius: 59 g/km

With some math, that translates to 47 MPG compared to US Prius 50 MPG.

If you want to see European retail viewer, download and install 170 MB program. You'll be able to see different colors and different RIM sizes (15", 16" or 17"). You can see the exterior and interior views in 360 degree as well.

As a Toyota/Lexus fan, I'm very interested in the CT200h. It's just not ricey enough, or geeky enough though. It's too "out there to please everyone" and the body styling is like a Corolla. It will probably grow on me though.

My 2 favorite cars though of 2000+ are the original Lexus IS 300 and the Prius Gen II. Opposite ends of the spectrum, I know, but for some reason I love em both for different reasons.

Well the 1G IS' "chronograph" instrument panel is definitely unique...

Yup yup. The only problem is the IS got only 18mpg. DOH!

But in terms of Lexus performance, 3.0L inline V6. oohhhh ahhhh.
