Just picked up new 2010

    A few days ago, I decided to replace my temporary Yaris for a big car, plus the wife complained about the stick shift a little to often.

    Drove one in Traverse City, but found price was firm, but nice folks. I had a feeler out on one in Wi. with a good price when Fernelius out cheboygan returned my call and I told her what I was about to do, thus they competed and I got the car at invoice which I suppose is good for a prius. What prompted me, was the .9 percent interest on new cars, heck, they should have just given the money away as it amounts to so little cash in the end.

    Here is what was odd. The identical car in TC was sluggish and I could hardly drive it in the eco area while the one I got today is the opposite, in fact we are already getting above 50 with only 5 mi. on it at pick up. Going through town, I was in the 30's strictly battery which I did not think was possible. Love the car however.

    Did you researched the prices before buying? if you checked out Prius chats 2010 prices you would have had a better understanding on the prices on the different trim levels. A lot of dealers are giving the II's away by selling under invoice. a lot of PCers got the II 1000 or more under invoice. congrats on your new prius. its the best investment you'll ever made.

    welcome to the family serena. yes i know your secret identity. hahaha. you getting the car at invoice was an ok deal. Dealers usually lie about the invoice anyways. I'm completely confident you could've gotten the car for $1000 under invoice with extras thrown in, but its done. so welcome, start reading, enjoy your car. Consider some accessories as well. I added an auto-dimming mirror and i'm planning the lighted door sills.

    0.9% ... That's sick ... Toyota UK finance on Prius is 9.9% !! ... And our sales tax (vat) is going up to 20% on Jan 1st :-( ... And our base model start price is around $32,000 :-0

    Yeah 2.9% rate on Prius and new Hybrid Camry here in Australia at the moment,saving on the payment and getting about 4.5/L per 100km with my new Prius a lot better than 11/L per 100km which was what i was getting with my Toyota RAV 4 !!

    Put it this way, sitting in the driver's seat of a Yaris, I can turn around and grab the backseat headrest without taking my butt off the driver's seat. lol

    9.9%? You're kidding right?

    I got a deal much much cheaper deal than that.

    You're right about the cost of the car though. It was £18.5k when I got mine in October last year. Now they're upto just shy of £20k for the basic model.

    Still a good car and holds its value well, esp with the possibility that the London congestion charge will soon only apply to cars under 100g/km!

    The 2010 will go engine off in the right conditions up to 45 mph. For best mpg, don't overdo "going electric." Instead, learn pulse & glide. Use the ICE to obtain top speed needed, then come almost off the go pedal so the HSI shows no power or regen (no bar). This is a gas car. The batteries are merely a buffer, and the energy in them all comes from the gasoline. Learning to anticipate stops and to glide will bury regen for fuel economy.

    9.9% is the rate for their 3year PCP scheme ... bit annoying as they are offering 5.9% and 3.9% on other models ... And there's still the £10,000 residual at the end !!

    Just trying to do the math as can get 5% over 5 years through work and purchase outright
