Bought a Prius II on 7/26. MSRP $23,800 Invoice $22,319 Paid $21,385 ($750 rebate) Purchased in Missouri but will title in Kansas so no TTL paid at dealer. TTL should total about $1600. First fill up 40 mpg (all short trips with A/C). Second tank 58.7 mpg (highway with A/C).
Below Invoice! I just checked USAA again today and it still Shows 2010 Prius III w/Nav: MSRP: $26,605, Invoice: $25,436, USAA: $22,436. One thing I did discover is that the USAA Pricing does not add the $220 upcharge for the Blizzard White paint. So that's a bonus if you're looking for that color. The MSRP on the one we purchased was $26,850 (this includes the $220 paint charge), we paid $22,086. But being in the Southeast Region, there are some funky charges like a $690 Southeast Toyota Administration Charge. I don't think we paid that though, and looking back over the paperwork, it appears we may have actually paid $3350 under Invoice (before TTL). Our salesman through in a full set of mats too, so we saved a bit there as well. We are very pleased with the deal we got...
Wow! I want a Prius III but with no Nav (and no sunroof). I'm in the southeast toyo region and don't want to have to pay all those extra fees. I'm not a member of USAA and I don't know if I can qualify either since I'm not a current or past member of the military nor do I have a spouse or family member that belongs either. Help!
USAA uses AutoNation to negotiate these deals, contact Caleb Ewart at [email protected] and see what kind of deal he can get for you. It is location specific, and he told me that in FL the best they were getting is about $350 below Invoice. PM me and I can give you the name and number of my salesman, he was awesome. It may be worth it to drive to GA to purchase. If you talk to Caleb, thell him Paul from GA referred you! What's your Zip Code, I'll run the numbers through USAA and see what they are offering in NC. Might give you some bargaining power, or help you decide if you want to drive South to save some buck...
The rebate is for the KC region and not national. I think other regions had a $1000 rebate. Must vary by inventory and sales.
I don't know if it's technically a Rebate, as that normally denotes cash back to the customer, here in Georgia they had a $1000 Dealer Cash incentive, which is normally cash back to the dealer that is passed on to the customer in the form of a discount. Of course, it really doesn't matter what they call it as long as the customer benefits with a lower priced vehicle!
The deal is *so* good in GA, I wonder what possibilities an out-of-stater has. Does the customer really have to go to GA ? Perhaps a car can be shipped from dock more westward ? The dealers are quick to add shipping as an extra fee, so perhaps that can be turned around into an advantage.
I e-mailed my POC at AutoNation on behalf of another PC member and they will honor the $3000 below Invoice price, even if you're not a USAA Member (If I referred them). They also offered shipping the vehicle to NC, but I'm sure there is a charge. If your interested, PM me and I'll get you the contact info for the Rep who helped me. Edit: I just noticed I posted his e-mail in a previous post. Still, if you're serious, PM me and I'll shoot him an e-mail with your name and tell him you may be contacting him with questions.
That's really a fantastic deal. If I had known of it, I'd have taken time off from work, made the 10 hour drive to Atlanta, stayed overnight, and driven my new car back home. It would have been worth the time and effort to save $3k over the price of any other dealer in my geographic area. Without a trade (and having the time), flying in, making the deal, and driving home would still be a viable option. Even factoring in the price of an airline ticket and a hotel stay, the savings would still make it worth it.
It'd be funny if one, lone Toyota dealership in Atlanta suddenly sold out of their entire stock of Priuses while everyone else across the country retains a large number on their lots...
I think it's certain trims that Toyota is discounting. I've seen alot of the II's and III's being discounted under invoice. Toyota is even offering 1000 incentive for the II's. I think this is to compete with the insights since there's no Prius I's. I've never seen a V discounted that much. during my shopping for a V, almost every dealer I've talked to will not take more than 2000 off MSRP for the V with ATP. I've talked to total of about 20 dealers in so cal. I Finally got one for 145 above invoice. I'm sure I could probably get one for cheaper now that year end is coming up and the MY11 is coming out.
I am currently shopping for a V, but with the Nav. and not the ATP. Below invoice pricing on the V would be great, but unless one has been on a dealer's lot for awhile it may be tough to find one at such a price.
you'd think the higher priced the car, the higher the profit margin, thus the more they'd be willing to take off.
One the USAA Website, it's $3000 below Invoice on any Trim level, II through V. There in an inbound IV with the Solar Package that my wife is thinking about, it priced out at $26,965. So how would it look with two 2010 Blizzard White Pruis' in the same garage? What color V you looking for? A Prius V w/Nav is priced at $26,945 here...
Yes I read about the USAA deal. That is a great deal for the armed forces. I have great respect for the military. I've never served in the military nor does any members of my family, well not for the US military anyway. the 3,000 off invoice is to honor those who risked their lives for this country. They deserved it. To offer me 3,000 off invoice for a service that I was not a part of is an insult to those who served. Thank you but no thank you. I don't deserve it. Save it for someone who does. Edit: I went to USAA to price a V blizzard/dark gray with ATP and Z1. It came out to 30,563. Their invoice has $1129 of hidden fees, probably to cover destination fees and some commissions or doc fees. Anyway it's about 1190 lower than what I paid for. If you don't buy one from USAA, the dealer also has $500 cash back for the V for those served in the military. Other trim levels may have higher cashback.
I don't think that a military veteran gets to be a member of USAA based on that alone. As I understand it, it's only for those either retired or currently still on active duty. IOW, someone could have done a tour in a combat zone (i.e., risked their life in IZ or AF) and subsequently gotten out of the military, but because they didn't stay in and retire, would not be eligible to be a member of USAA.
cproaudio, I appreciate the sentiment for our veterans, but the USAA car buying service is through zag.com and is available to several buying groups, not just military vets/families. You can even price it through overstock.com and you get identical pricing to the USAA prices. Someone else also mentioned it is the same as consumer reports' service. I just tested it out using the zip code in Atlanta and the prices are identical for the same package on both overstock.com and usaa.com. Just an FYI for those interested.
