Hi there! How are you? First time poster here! :)
    Sorry for my bad english!

I am looking for the part number of the 2010 Prius OEM engine splash shield. Does any know about the number? Please let me know!
The Access door of the Engine Splash Shield opened up while I was driving on highway today. (The pins that holding the access door got loose I guess) When I got to the car dealer after work, half of the access door was already destroy... :( The dealer told me that they couldn't just replace the access door because it is a part of the shield. So, they will to order a new engine splash shield for my car.

The car dealer wanted $299US for the part (no labor) Is that a good deal? Thanks for any input!

    Cheers,

    kfc2

First question: Is this a brand new car?
Second: Has any service been performed on it?
If yes on one, and no on second.... tell the dealer they need to fix it at no cost to you!

    Hi Spideman,
This is a brand new car. I am the first owner. :)
I just had the oil change done by the same dealer two weeks ago. :(

    Thanks

That should cost you approximately nothing. New car, one owner and they did some mtce. All in all there is no way you should be paying for that regardless of what it costs. Go to a different dealer it sounds pretty suspicious to me.

OK, well it appears it wasn't a manufacturing issue. Take it back to the dealer and demand that they replaced it because they did not fasten the cover properly!

Agreed. And if the service adviser doesn't agree, speak to the service manager.

I agree also. The dealer is 100% at fault.

Thanks for all your input! I will talk to the service manager today and see if they are willing to fix the car for free.

    Usbseawolf2000,
It rained yesterday. I think the rain just got under the car pretty wet. Should not be leaking from the CV joint... but I will have the dealer to check that next time when I am in for maintence. Thanks!

Ok, I thought of rain too but the tires are dry. The inside of the splash shield looks like it has oil stain. Water drying up does not look like that. You may have extended damage than the splash shield.

Actually, you are looking at the outside of the splash shield in this picture. The splash shield is bent backward. :(
