I ran your car thru Truecar.com I might've missed a few options, but its showing the factory invoice as $30,517. So i'd say if you can get them to sell it to you for $29,800. Try the website yourself and customize everything, it will give you a wide variety of price ranges.
Model II +Blutooth and carpeted inside mats and trunk mat. Don't have exact sticker numbers handy but it was $1020 under MSRP in Auburn California. I started with a credit union price and got a bit more off when I showed the salesman an add for a better price about 20 miles away. I probably left a few dollars on the table but it was such a pleasure dealing with a salesman that wasn't a dirt bag that I didn't feel like playing car buyer games. I also knew I was close to the best I could do locally.
I'm working on juggling bids on a Prius III with navigation. So far the best deal I can wrangle is 24,600 rounded. You guys think that's a good price?
Like i said. Truecar.com will tell you what a great price will be. $24,600 doesn't seem like that big of a bargain.
This is how I bought my Prius. I hope this will help future Prius Owners. I went to edmunds.com for pricing and options, then went to DMV site for DMV fees. I made an excel spreadsheet on the total cost break down. After researching I concluded that only 3 options the Prius must have when it's being manufactured; Nav pak, solar pack and adv tech pack. Everything else can be added on later. Other discounts rebates incentives - The only discounts I'm aware of is the military discount of $500. There was 0% financing for 36 mo and free 24mo 25k maintenance offer. Those may end soon. I couldn't find any information if there's a dealer holdback or not. I don't think it does for the Prius. Now that I know the invoice price and options I want I input all the information into the spreadsheet. Mine looks something like this MSRP _____Invoice_____price I'll Pay___Item 28,070____26,129_____26,129______2010 Prius V 5,180_____4,377______4,377_______AY Advanced Technology Package 280_______183_______183_________Z1 Preferred Accessory Package 220_______176_______176_________PC Special Color - Blizzard Pearl 750_______750_______750_________Destination Charge ------------------------------------------------------------ 34,500____31,615_____31,615_______Vehicle Total Price DMV Fees 31______Current Registration (Fixed Fee) 22______Current California Highway Patrol (Fixed Fee) 365.15___Current Vehicle License Fee (Vehicle Price X 1.155% estimate) 1_______Current County Service Authority for Freeway Emergencies Fee (Fixed Fee) 1_______Current Fingerprint ID Fee (Fixed Fee) 1_______Current Auto Theft and/or DUI Crime Deterrence Program (Fixed Fee) 6_______Current Valley Air Quality (Fixed Fee) 1_______Current San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District (Fixed Fee) 3_______Alt Fuel/Tech Reg Fee (Fixed Fee) 1_______Reflectorized License Plate Fee (Fixed Fee) 29______DMV Electronic Filing Fee (Fixed Fee) 8.75_____Tire Fees (Fixed Fee 1.75 per tire, don't forget the spare tire like I did) ------------------------------------------------------------ 469.9____Total Estimated DMV fees 31,615______Vehicle Total Price 469.9_______Total Estimated DMV fees 2608.24_____Use/Sales Tax (vehicle price X 8.25%) 55__________Dealer Doc Prep ------------------------------------------------------------ 34748.14____Total vehicle Price Out The Door. I went to my local dealer but they don't have one in stock. They're willing to do a dealer trade for me. I offered them 34,000 OTD and the salesman turned me over to fleet sales. We finally settle on $100 above invoice (employee purchase price) + $400 dealer trade fee. I told them that I think about it. I wasn't willing to pay for the dealer trade fee and I don't wanna buy something they don't have. The next step is to find a dealer with a white Prius V with adv tech pack in stock. I hit up google maps and searched ALL of Toyota dealers within 300 miles. I made another spreadsheet of all the dealers sorted by distance from me. I went to each dealers website and searched on their online inventory. All the dealers with white/dark gray Prius V with adv tech pack in stock gets logged into my spread sheet. The next day I called all the dealers with such Prius in stock to check physical inventory. Some are sold, some are on its way, a couple are being driven by the general manager as demo cars. my next day off I drove to LA and to each of those dealers only to find that a lot of the salesmen had only looked in their computer and didn't do physical inventory check. I was about to give up and come home when I decide to hit up the last dealer on my list. They actually have it in stock. I looked at the sticker price and input all the packages/options into my PDA. The salesman ask if I wanted to work some numbers. I said sure. The salesman: 37,900 out the door Me: 34,900 out the door The salesman: 36,800 me: 34,900 The sales manager: 36,000 me: 34,900 The sales manager: 35,500 final offer me: 34,900.... never-mind I'm going home The salesman: wait wait wait the sales manager is calling the general manager me: never-mind I'm going home 10 minutes later sales manager: Congratulations, You're the owner of a brand new 2010 Toyota Prius. me: You just wasted 20 minutes of my time. My sale contract showed 31759.55____Cash Price Vehicle (invoice price is 31615) 55__________Doc Fee 2624.7______Sales Tax 460.75______Total Offical Fees ------------------------------------------------------------ 34900_______Out The Door Price On the way home I started to have second thoughts. Not buyers remorse but I was thinking that I probably paid too much. I went on priuschat's and I found dealer pricing forum and found that Dianne Whitmire July special. My heart just dropped when I saw that she has a black Prius V with adv tech pack for I think 500 or 600 below invoice. A quick check on their inventory show that they do have a white V with ATP. I kept telling myself that she only put the black one on here b/c they need to get rid of it and wont deal on the white one. Oh well. In the end I bought a Prius for $144.55 above invoice which I think is not a bad deal.
That depends if you are taking customer cash or the low apr financing from Toyota. The deal that I got on my Prius III with nav is 25250 + tax/title with 0.9 % for 60 months. If I wanted the customer cash ($1000) instead of the apr I would have got it for 24250 + tax/title
In the name of free markets... and as a "thank-you" to this community for help with our purchase... here are the details of our purchase. Currently in Michigan there is 750.00 rebate for the Prius. We did not finance through the dealer. Also there is "free" 2yr scheduled maintenance at the dealer included (paid by Toyota, I think). One note about this dealer - they offer free loaner plus pickup/delivery for service on cars purchased through them, which makes a difference for us. (eee attachment for numbers) Hope this helps...
Thanks for sharing your experience. Buying a high package is by definition paying too much in my opinion. Besides the dealer has to feed his family too. So don't worry about it and enjoy your new car!
It's 24,600 with .9% financing. It's the best I could find after a solid week of farming for competitive bids and research about 8 + hours a day (I saw it as a challenge so why not lol). The best I found other then mine was a guy that bought the same car in white with a remote starter for 24,500 in LA, California. Hopefully it was worth it. :-p
IMO, its a decent price for a III with nav. Dealers in my area were not able to come close to 25250 + tax/title with 0.9 for 60 months. After a week's haggling I had to buy it from a dealer 200 miles away.
They wanted $37,900? Seriously? I would NEVER pay that much for a prius. You can get a Lexus IS 350 for that much....and a whole lot of other cars.
37,900 OTD was MSRP + all the tax and fees. I bought it because of the adv tech pack. If Prius didn't offer the ATP in the V, I would have waited until someone made a PHEV or not even buy one and drive my Tacoma for another 200k miles.
You can get an IS 350 for about $34.5 if you haggle the dealer. or even a fully loaded HS 250h will be around $37-38 after TTTL. Regardless, Prius entering lexus price ranges is unacceptable.
I got a 3 year 15,000 mile per year lease for my '98 RAV4 trade-in (162,000 miles) and payments of $253 mo. Package II, Barcelona Red, with floor mats, no other extras. Think it's a good deal for Northern California, but I've seen better deals in the big city areas. I love my car :car: I've wanted a Prius for years, but the BP disaster pushed me over the edge--I just HAD to stop giving the oil co's so much of my $, my tiny way of protesting how they are destroying the beautiful planet.
Any decent Toyota's top trim line with fully loaded options will enter Lexus price. A fully loaded sienna limited AWD costs over 48K while stripped down base Sienna 4cyl cost just over 24k. I'm sure the IS350 is a nice car but it's not for me. I'd consider it if it can 55+MPG and costs the same as a Prius and there's proven track record that it can be converted to a plugin hybrid to achieve 100+MPG.
Fully Loaded HS 250h. Runs on the camry hybrid powertrain. Lexus quality and plenty of neat features and comfort. $39k. 35mpg. If i had that much money to spend, id get the 250h instead of a fully loaded prius =)
according to edmunds a fully loaded 2010 HS250h comes in Premium trim with tech pack, nav pack, LED headlight, ML audio system and wide view front camera and it cost 48,405 MSRP, 43083 invoice. I doubt a Lexus dealer will sell it under invoice. Let's say that I was able to get it down to 42k, that's 46110 OTD in my tax area, hardly 39K. HS250h is a nice car but it's just a glorified Prius that looks like a Corolla with a Camry hybrid engine that only gets 35 MPG. If I'm financially secure, I'd buy one in a heart beat. Instead, I had to settle for the original at a lower price.
Picked up my 2010 Prius IV Silver with Solar Roof Pkg, Carpeted Floor Mats Pkg, Wheel Locks and Real Bumper Applique - MSRP: $31,976. The price paid is below, but almost walked away from the deal when I was signing papers and I was told that I needed to purchase GAP insurance because it wasn't covered. This is my first time leasing with Toyota, and all other manufacturers include it -- if Toyota doesn't that's fine but it should be discussed during deal time, not paper signing time. Anyway, after really looking at the deal I had, agreed to pay the extra $6 bucks a month. Here's the deal: MSRP: $31,976 Sale Price: $29,107.33 Taxes: $1061.62 GAP Ins: $200 Acquisition Fee: $650 Gross CAP Cost: $31,018.95 Money Down: 1st Month Payment Only + DMV Fees ($600 total) Lease price, Sign and Drive with everything rolled in 36 mo/12k - $342.13 Think I did good and love the car!
I think you did well on the lease for the IV. I leased a similar car in Maryland this past May. 3 year lease - 15K per month. Put down the first month only and am paying $380.00 per month. By the way, Toyota can not force you to take the GAP insurance. Found this out from my father in law who is in the car business.
As the 250h is the Lexus version of the Camry hybrid, next year's new CT200h will be the Prius version. It looks to be quite the nice ride, too (if they can keep the price within reason).
