Dramatic gush of clean very cold water when making a left turn, AC always on as it is high 90F here in SC in July. No smell to the water, seems clean like from AC. Comming from center, "tunnel" area. Just above where passengers ankle would be, against the carpet. One time on long left turn (round-about) a blowing sound was heard also. Any ideas. A/C otherwise working fine.
+1 Get it taken care off soon or you will have mold growing in your AC, particularly in your SC climate. Could possibly be a loose drain hose but that would normally be more of a continual drip than an occasional gush.
"Plugged drain for the AC" can some one elaborate on this... can a regular mechanic fix this? is it specific to prius? do I have to go to dealer? can I do it at home.. my car started to stink .... please help .. any info is appreciated.
just like your home AC, there's probably a little pump to pump away the water that collects on the cooling coils to a drain, or even outside. In cars, often there's a little hose that's connected to the bottom of the cooling matrix housing.
A search on PC reveals this solution to your problem. http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-...5-air-conditioner-drain-line-clogged-fix.html
I once had a car where this happened and they couldn't find a stoppage in the lines. It turned out that the drain hose was improperly placed and the bottom of it was facing forward so that when in motion, the air would push into it and force the water back into the fan area and then into the interior. It just took a pair of cutting pliers to cut an angle at the end of the hose to make the hole face toward the rear and it was fixed.
