Finally.. vent shades at a normal price..

For anyone looking for these window visors. I just spoke with someone from HIC direct in Walnut, CA. I was able to make contact and asked if he would be willing to sell us prius owners the visors directly. Depending on how many people are willing to order he can get us pricing. I just ordered mine from them directly.

are you guys getting dark tint or light tint?

 

I have dark tint but plan on getting them painted or overlaying them white to match the car.

 

I just ordered some HIC vent shades and put them on. Ordered them last Sunday night, received them Tuesday afternoon. But didn't put them on until last night since I was out of town. Took about 5 min to install.

The nice thing is you can peal the HIC emblem decal off of the vent shades (window visors... whatever you want to call them) so now they're clean looking on the car. Driving and wind noise.... no wind noise at all when going 85-90 mph on the freeway "cruising" along for a long period of time. The main reason why I got them was so I could crack my windows when parked outside in the sun.

As for painting them to color match the car, I think that would look really gaudy and 'rice' looking if you do that. Plus it'll block some of your view or cut down on your outside visibility, but mainly it'll look pretty cheesy IMO.

I'll try to take some side pics later today. When I took the pics above, it was at night and in my garage. I took some side pictures but you couldn't see the visors at all so I didn't bother posting them.

 

Hmmm...will have to look into this as I had them on my BMW and on the Explorer and like them a lot....I can see the next modification to my little Prius coming to a driveway near you soon.

 

Did you notice a reduction in wind noise with both windows cracked at
50 MPH?? I also want to do my wifes Honda Element!!
Maybe I'll do that first to see if they help!!

Anyone know of there is a difference between these and the oem ones? Looking at the pictures...they look the same. I wonder if there is any difference at all.

Oh and as far as painting them...I would think over time that paint would easily chip/fade/etc...I think the smoke dark/light color looks great already especially if your windows are tinted.

I think the JDM ones have toyota on them and also have a small clip on the backside. HIC USA ones are going strong though ^_^

I bought mine through their website. It was a little bit cheaper. Install was straightforward and been happy with them so far. They are a little bit off though and do not perfectly align with the curves of the windows...
