Last week we received a recall notice from Toyota.
Based on our VIN# and options, we are 12 lbs under the listed carrying capacity on our door frame. Rather than going thru the time and trouble of removing the old sticker and replacing it with the lesser capacity sticker, we decided to jettison parts that are not critical. After much stewing, we decided the easiest way would be to remove the head restrains from all seats. That should be about 12 lbs.
After a nights sleep and a bad dream, Deb and I decided we don't have to rush into compliance and after a couple of weeks on a low calorie diet we will eventually be in the 'ol ballpark'. Problem solved! DG

Just curious, did your Prius come from Gulf States Toyota? I got one of those new stickers too. Only 1 lb difference in the specifications than the sticker I already had. It came out of Gulf States Toyota.

There's something odd going on at Toyota's legal department. I received the same replacement sticker for my 2010 RAV. Works pretty well as fly paper.

I wonder if the new weight figure takes into account the weight of the sticker?

Can one stack the new sticker over the original sticker or is that not advisable? Could that cause unintended runaway curb weight?

Mine was very serious, it was 0kg difference. I wonder if anyone actually thought, no couldn't have been.

I also had toyota corporate call me telling me I needed to get the 5000 mile oil change and it was free. The dealer had included free oil changes and refused (probably rightfully so) telling me the people at the phone bank didn't understand the change to 10,000 miles between oil changes.

Yes it did, Please excuse the poor attempt at a joke.
I forgot to mention the fact that the pillow law could be used against persons removing the original sticker.

I actually gave Gulf States a call about the sticker since it was such a small difference. I was assured I needed to replace the sticker! What a joke! Wonder how much money they spent on sending out those new stickers?

Well could be some yahoo loads the car with exactly the difference in weight between max weight and curb weight and it breaks because it was 12kg more. Toyota is saving their behinds...

    Hey ggood,

I'm curious on the weights on the V-ATP versus the standard II. My II says its GVW is 3980, can carry a load of 825lbs.

The sticker originally placed in the car said that the weight was 1.00lb, is over this is hand written. It said I should replace the sticker in the car, and the new one said 0 kg and 0lbs. I had no options installed on the car from the factory or dealer. I really just consider the safety letter a nuisance. I take it though that the weight of my prius is 3155 before my own modifications.

Toyota is just trying to cover all their bases. Right now they dominate the car industry and that makes a lot of other corporations VERY ANGRY. Toyota is in a spotlight and a target sight.. if they make a mistake, Ford, and all the other crappy car companies who know they are inferior will have no forgiveness.

Moreover, Toyota is responsible for less gas consumption: this must infuriate the oil companies. Who have TRILLIONS of dollars to throw around. With that kind of money you can create a private army and kill everyone that works at Toyota. The Oil Companies stock and profits must be down due to hybrids.

Toyota is in a precarious position. Every lesser entity wants them dead. They must cover all their bases.

I thought of that, but lately my 'mind control' has been iffy.
