Got the check... so the carwash made good. They are also modifying the tire brush unit so that it won't damage other cars. While I hate that it happened in the first place, it's nice that it was handled professionally.

Well, after lurking for months and months and even more months, this, of all threads, got me to join.

As a fellow Memphian, where do I find/avoid this car wash? I am only 30 days into my Prius and would like to avoid a similar issue.

    Thanks for sharing your story.

It's the Boomerang on Hacks Cross, near I-385. While I don't like the gouge, I have to say that they were very good to me throughout the entire process. I believe they have already modified the tire brush equipment to prevent damaging other cars. Haven't tested it though.

I guess I'm fortunate to have a number of self service car washes where you drive in, no rails and a light & buzzer tell you when to stop. Then, a motorized conveyor moves along both sides of the car and high pressure sprays apply soap, rinse, shine and blow drys. Of course, the full service wash is more expensive, but it does start at $5.00 for the basic. No chance of damage to my precious Prius!

I take mine to a conveyor-style car wash 'cause it's supposed to be 'greener' than washing at home, and I haven't had any issues. Perhaps the owners have adjusted it to accommodate all of the lowered cars or ones with body kits, both of which are common here. Not sure, though LOL -_^
