I wanted to sorta dress up the Gen 1 Prius, but to my surprise, all I seem to find are bumper bras, and replacement antennas. Never heard of a car not having aftermarket stuff made for it. What happened? My main want, is window/rain deflectors. Are there any for another model car that can be modified to work?
I bought Ford Focus guides because of the similar body shape. I found the rear window guide works ... with a little silicon sealant. The front window vents were a little too short. Lessons learned, I would recommend getting two pieces of cardboard and trimming them so you can trace and cut a window template for the front and rear windows. Once you have the templates, head over to different auto stores and even the Toyota parts service and compare the templates to existing rain-vents. Look for the same 'bend' but longer as you can always trim it down. GOOD LUCK! Bob Wilson
How many cars have you owned in the past, where total sales was only 53K units (in the US)? Since the owner base is very small, it doesn't make much sense to produce custom parts for that model.
What is the total worldwide sales on the Gen 1, With the "World Wide Web" there's a huge potential market out there for anything these days.
Thanks, I never thought of making a template, and taking it into an accessories shop. Thats a fantastic idea.
